“You need a new strategy.”

Damian glared at the Immortal. “Really?” His voice dripped with sarcasm. “I hadn’t considered

that.”

“She must come to you willingly, yes?”

Damian gave a sharp nod.

“You must build a relationship with her. She pitied you when Aiden was in the picture. She must

still think you under the control of whomever was controlling him. Use that to your advantage.”

“I have limited time to build a relationship with her before the Spring Gathering.”

“Then you best work fast.”

“Your network is sound here,” Neil said. “Go to Boston and be a friend. Perhaps put doubt in her

mind about her husband. Or use Lia’s position with her new boyfriend to infiltrate them.” Neil

laughed. “Show yourself a good big brother and build from there.”

Damian turned and stared out the window again. It was the end of January. He needed to work fast

if he would have control of her by the Gathering. It was time to quit playing around.

He closed his eyes and took several deep breaths. He had time. The beginnings of a plan were

forming in his mind and he smiled. “Neil, find me a place to stay in Boston.”

Damian walked around the quivering mass of flesh on the table that was Sydney Matthews. He’d done

everything to her he’d promised, and more. His body flooded with heat as he thought back over the

last week and he smiled.

“Do you want it to stop?” he asked, pressing his fingers into the cavity where one eye used to be

located.

A whimper escaped the hole where her lips used to be. She had no eyes, no lips, no nose, no

tongue. Just holes.

“Are you saying you haven’t enjoyed our time together this past week?”

Another whimper.

“Terric will heal you for the final time this afternoon. Then we are going to have a heart-to-heart

talk about what’s going to happen next. And you won’t fail me because I’m going to take your mind

and make it my own. You’re going to help me get Sabrina from Chase and you’re going to enjoy it.”

He turned and walked upstairs, wiping his hands on his jeans.

Lia waited for him in his study.
