Chase hugged him back hard. “I’m okay, Richard. I swear.”

“I know,” Richard said, his voice cracking before pulling back and studying his face. “I know you

are. Thank God for Sabrina.”

“For more than one reason,” Chase agreed softly.

Richard smiled. “You should call Ethan and make sure she’s okay. Who knows what happened

over there.”

When they got back to their hotel room, Chase tapped the screen over Ethan’s picture and waited

impatiently for him to answer. It rang once . . . twice . . . halfway through the third ring . . . “Chase!

Are you okay?”

Chase sighed with relief. If something was wrong with Sabrina, he would have answered

differently. “I’m fine. Is Sabrina?”

“Yeah, she’s . . . she’s sleeping. Back to normal.”

“Normal?”

Ethan hesitated. “She screamed for me when she was in the shower and she had that pale look on

her face, like when she had that nightmare after opening night.” He paused. “Then she kinda started

glowing and passed out. I put her in bed, wondering what happened. She said something was wrong

with you. What the hell happened?”

“Is she okay now?”

“Yeah, she stopped glowing a while ago. Said you were okay now. What happened?”

Chase told Ethan what he knew and Ethan cursed. “Nigel? I thought he was okay.”

“I honestly think someone was using him. Like with Aiden. It was the same expression on his face

that Aiden had.”

“That’s fucked up. Her Master is targeting you now?”

“He did once already.”

“I can’t lose either of you, Chase. It would kill me.”

The pain in Ethan’s tone made Chase close his eyes. “I know,” he said softly. “I’ll be okay. You

keep watching over Sabrina. I can take care of myself.”

“Like you did today?”

“The more he comes after us, the more we learn about him. Every attack exposes himself to us.

We’ll figure it out.”
