“He’s hurting. He’s scared.” She looked back at Ethan, who stared at the ground. “Why won’t you
help?”
Chase’s jaw moved, but he didn’t say anything.
“Sabrina, it’s different now that you guys are married,” Ethan said softly. “Chase won’t risk
hurting you.”
She put her hands on her hips and stared at Chase. “Why do you think you’d hurt me?”
“Most women don’t want their husbands fucking other men.”
Chase’s words hit her in the heart and she sat down hard on the chair.
Of course they didn’t. What had she been thinking? Hot tears burned her eyes. Normal women
were protective and jealous for their husbands. She, on the other hand, was trying to convince hers to
have sex with someone else. Just the thing he’d told her he avoided doing the night before with
Sydney. What was wrong with her? Yes, she wanted Ethan to stop hurting, but at the same time, when
Chase had told her about it yesterday, she’d gotten turned on.
Sabrina closed her eyes and felt her cheeks burn. What a foolish girl she was.
Chase didn’t know what to do. Ethan frowned at him. Why had he gotten defensive? What the hell
was wrong with him?
He looked at Ethan, who arched a brow.
He kneeled next to Sabrina and pulled her into his arms. She was stiff. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t
have said that.”
“Why can’t I be normal?” she whispered.
He smiled sadly. “Because you’re not normal.” He hugged her. “I like that you’re not normal.”
“But you said . . .”
He closed his eyes. “I was wrong to say that.”
He looked at Ethan over Sabrina’s head, and he raised his brows, hoping he’d understand what he
was asking.
Ethan looked at Sabrina, and his eyes softened. When he looked back at Chase, his eyes were
filled with hope. He’d only seen that vulnerable expression on his face a handful of times, back when
they were close. It had been so hard for Ethan to open up to him back then. He was willing to do it
again.
Chase nodded and Ethan smiled.
