“Letting Jose know we’re going in.”

Chase narrowed his eyes but didn’t say anything. Jose should know where they were with their

GPS devices. Maybe it was a normal secondary precaution with their team.

Sydney worked the lock as Chase kept watch. A moment later, he heard a soft click, and the door

yawned into blackness.

They followed their memorized path through the house, pausing when a guard got too close. Jose

kept them invisible from everyone else.

At the end of a wide hallway was a set of heavy wooden doors with decorative iron bars and

knobs. Muffled voices crept through the space between the floor and the bottom of the door. One was

much higher pitched than the other.

Chase’s heart pounded as dread filled his body. Was that poor girl in there with that bastard now?

Would he have to see—

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Concentrate! He needed all his faculties to see this

job through and get that girl home safely.

He and Sydney made eye contact, and she held up three fingers, dropped one, then another, then

another.

Sydney pushed open the door and Chase stepped inside, his handgun at the ready. A man kneeled

on the bed, naked, over a tiny figure in the center of the massive bed.

Sabrina opened her eyes as golden light filled her bedroom. A giant of a man stood over her. She

opened her mouth to scream, but he touched her throat and no sound came out. She looked up at him,

terrified. He was tall and muscular, with light brown skin, glowing golden eyes, and long black hair

pulled back in a tail. He wore white linen pants and crossed his arms over his massive bare chest. A

glow emanated from him, and she could feel the power contained within that massive body.

An Immortal.

Terric.

No!

She backed away and nearly fell off the bed, but he caught her and dropped her in the middle of

the mattress.

How did he get in here? Where’s Chase? Where’s Ethan?

“So many questions,” he murmured, sitting down on the bed next to her and running his fingers
