time.”
She hated that Ethan was hurting. “I shouldn’t have brought it up.”
“I asked.” Chase ran his fingers down her arm. “He’ll be okay. I promise.”
Sabrina scooted up and wrapped her arms around Chase’s neck. She had been thinking about
asking if Ethan could “help” her tonight because her mind was getting fuzzy again, but now she didn’t
know if she should. It was less than two days until the wedding. She could hold out.
Chase held Sabrina against him and stared at the door. When Sabrina had mentioned seeing him with
another man, his heart had leaped in his chest, but Ethan’s reaction told him it wouldn’t ever happen.
Ethan’s emotions were too raw. Even Jayson had started dating someone. Chase and Sabrina were
getting married on Monday. Ethan was kind of on his own now and Chase’s heart went out to him.
He knew Ethan well enough to know he’d be okay. Eventually. Maybe once he and Sabrina were
settled, they could give him time in the evenings to go out and meet people. Ethan was one of the best
men he’d ever met, and he deserved someone special in his life.
Sabrina turned his wrist to look at his watch and stood. “I have to get ready.”
She busied herself stretching as Chase’s mind wandered. He wished Ethan would open up to him.
To both of them. It wasn’t unusual for Elders and their wives to have lovers. Would it be weird to be
the lover of a couple? He shifted in his seat as his thoughts wandered to ideas of Ethan and Sabrina
together, of he and Ethan together. Was it possible for Chase to keep Sabrina satisfied by himself? He
might need reinforcements.
He laughed, imagining himself lying in their bed, exhausted and Sabrina demanding more.
“What are you laughing at?” Sabrina asked from the floor where she’d been stretching.
“Nothing I should share right now.”
She stuck her lip out.
“It’s about sex.”
Her eyes widened, and she bit her lip. “Oh.”
He studied her. “Are you doing okay?”
She looked down at the ground.
“Be honest, Sabrina.”
She slowly shook her head. “I mean, it’s not like it was before, but I’m starting to feel it.”
“Do you want me to ask Ethan—”
