“I’m sorry.”

“Don’t apologize. I just had to take a shorter shower.” He chuckled. “Better for the environment, I

suppose.” He took her hand and led her into the study near the door. Ethan followed. “C’mon, let’s

look through these things together. Ethan, you, too.”

The three of them settled onto the couch, Chase in the middle, and he tapped on the first photo.

“This one’s a good size but it’s kinda far from the studio.” He swiped the screen. “This one’s really

nice, but on the top floor of that new glass monstrosity they just finished.” He glanced at Ethan. “I

have hesitations about living in a building like that.”

Ethan nodded. “No egress. I agree.”

Sabrina looked between the two men, no clue as to what they were talking about.

Chase smiled at her expression. “Being on the top of a skyscraper wouldn’t be safe. There’s no

way out if something happens, except a really long stairwell and it’s not fast enough. I prefer to live

closer to the ground.”

“Your old place was on the fourth floor,” Sabrina said.

“That’s a couple of flights of stairs, and the place was worth the extra steps.” He frowned.

“Except when I got attacked and other people lost their homes.” He exhaled and then shook his head.

“I think we should stick to a brownstone if at all possible.”

Sabrina gave an absent nod, leaving the decision to him.

“There are a couple . . .” He swiped a few more times and then pointed at the screen. “This one’s

nice. Straight down the road from the studio. Garage, four bedrooms, plenty of storage.” He looked at

Ethan. “I think we’re going to need to get you a car so you can drive Sabrina where she needs to go.

It’s too far to walk in the winter.”

Sabrina looked at the screen and smiled. It was pretty, tall and brick, with lots of windows, and

on a tree-lined street. The foyer looked grand and foreboding, with black-and-white marble, but the

rest of the home was warm with wood floors and even a library. “I like it.”

“You do?” Chase asked and glanced at Ethan, who gave a smile and a shrug. “Well, then, let’s go

see that one.” He looked at his watch. “Emmet should be here—” A knock on the door interrupted

him. “Right now.”

Sabrina jumped to her feet, and the men laughed. “What?”

Chase stood and took her hand. “You look excited.”
