here, she stared at the empty couch. She could almost see him sitting there, smiling at her, his eyes full
of love.
Tears burned her eyes and she sniffed and sucked in a breath. The pain was bittersweet now. She
missed him but cherished her memories of him.
She stared at the stiff carpet. Things were different now, and not just because of Ethan’s absence.
Part of her wished she still had Immortal in her. Something was missing when she danced and she
missed it terribly. A part of her soul was missing.
Someone knocked on the door and she wiped away her tears before standing to open it. Martin
and his nephew Mark stood there.
“Mark wanted to say hello before the performance.”
“I’m sorry I wasn’t able to be at the dress rehearsals this week, Sabrina,” Mark said, tilting his
head. “You look different.”
Sabrina studied his eyes and she gasped when she saw the tiniest hint of gold in his brown eyes.
He had Immortal in him. But Kronos—
“She’s probably just nervous,” Martin said, patting her hand. “She hasn’t performed since last
year.”
“I am nervous,” Sabrina said softly, still staring at Mark. She blinked, her heart feeling heavy.
He searched her eyes and smiled gently. “It’ll be okay.” He gave a small nod and then turned and
walked away.
Martin kissed her cheek and followed his nephew down the hallway.
She stepped back and closed the door, leaning back against the cool wood. Why did Mark have a
spark of Immortalness in him? How did he?
She closed her eyes and pushed aside the longing in her heart for that piece of her missing soul.
Yes, she could still dance and dance well, but it wasn’t the same.
She slid to the ground and pressed the palms of her hands to her eyes. “I’ll be okay,” she
whispered to herself. “It’ll be okay.”
A wisp of a sound made her look up. “Kronos?”
The giant’s crystal blue eyes bore into hers with such love she sucked in a deep breath. “I feel
your longing, little one. I feared it would be the case.” He held out his hand and helped her to her feet.
“But you do not wish to leave this world?”
