“I love you, Sabrina. I will not fight you anymore.” His chest heaved as he sucked in oxygen.
Her brows twitched and she froze. He could feel her confusion.
Chase held out his hand to her and her sword sagged. Just a bit. But enough to give him hope.
“Come back to me, Sabrina. I will free you from your monsters.” It occurred to Chase that he, too,
was her Master, and he could order her to lay down her sword and come to him. But he remembered
Alex with Anna and knew how he needed to win Sabrina over.
He slowly stood, holding out his arms to her. “This isn’t you, Sabrina,” he said in a soft voice.
“Damian wants to control you. Return to me and be my wife. Let me love you again.”
She blinked rapidly, staring at him, sword dropping to the ground. “Ch-Ch-Chase . . .”
He let out a sigh of relief.
Damian stepped between them, facing Sabrina, and grabbed her by the throat. “Do you remember
what happened the last time you disobeyed me?” he growled, squeezing her neck and lifting her from
the ground. She pulled at his hands and kicked her feet, gasping for breath.
Chase shoved himself forward and grabbed Damian around the waist, using his body weight to
yank him away from Sabrina and pull him to the ground. He rolled on top of Damian and punched him
in the face.
Someone shoved him sideways and he found himself on his back, Sabrina straddling his chest, a
flaming dagger in her fist above her head, ready to swing. Her face filled with rage. “You will not
hurt my Master.”
I’m your Master too! he wanted to yell. He blew out a breath between pursed lips. “I love you,
Sabrina.”
Her eyes widened. “Ch—”
“Kill him, Sabrina,” Damian said in a low growl. “Kill him and free yourself.”
She adjusted the grip on the dagger and it drooped an inch.
“Kill him or I will destroy you again.”
She blinked, jaw trembling.
Chase, came Theo’s voice in his head. If she kills you, she will destroy herself. You will both
die.
Chase inhaled deeply. “Kill me if you must, Sabrina,” Chase said in a gentle voice. “I will love
you forever.”
