slowly stood. “I hope they’ve come up with a fucking plan. I’m tired of waiting around.”

Chase’s stomach churned in anticipation as he walked toward the large open tent. The Elders sat

in a circle. Several held steaming Styrofoam cups in their hands. Most wore jeans and t-shirts. It

looked so normal, yet it wasn’t. Someone looking on from the distance would have no clue the most

powerful people in Germany and the United States were there discussing how to defeat the evilest

being ever.

Chase stopped at the edge of the circle.

“How badly do you want to defeat Damian?” Alex asked.

“That’s a stupid question, Alex,” Chase growled.

Alex chuckled. “Okay, let me rephrase it. What are you willing to do?”

Chase frowned. “Anything.” He owed Ethan that much, even if he never got Sabrina back.

“Good answer. Sit down. We have something to discuss with you.”

Chase sat down and leaned back in his chair.

Alex smiled. “We would like to make you an Elder.”

“YOU WANT TO MAKE ME A WHAT ?” CHASE STARED AT ALEX , UNWILLING TO LOOK AROUND AT THE

others. He had to be joking. There was no way the Elders would agree to make him—a Son—a full-

fledged Elder. Maybe he’d misheard his friend. His accent was pretty strong.

“An Elder. A special Elder.” Alex nodded. “Originally, they were going to give Richard the extra

powers, since he is the only one with a relationship with Sabrina, but after tonight, I recommended

you do it. After all, you are her husband.”

“And her Master,” Richard added. “Of every man here, Chase, you have the best chance of getting

through to her.”

Chase finally dared to look around and saw the serious expressions on all the Elder’s faces. Even

Oswin and Jürgen, two of the less friendly German Elders, nodded and gave tight smiles.

“Is that even allowed?” There were only seven Elders from each country. “How would that

work?”

“There is an allowance if a group of Elders agrees,” Vlad said in his thick Russian accent. “You

would not be of one country, but a special Elder called the Elder of the Seven Realms. We have not

had one in generations. But he is more powerful than an Elder from a single country. We believe it
