AS THE SUN SET S ATURDAY EVENING , DAMIAN STOOD AT THE SIDE OF THE FIELD WATCHING THE
braziers being lit. The air was cool on his face and he inhaled deeply. Even after being back for a
decade, he still savored inhaling a deep breath of fresh air into his lungs.
Sabrina appeared at his side wearing a sheer black dress.
“You have done well today, my dear.”
“Thank you, Master.”
“The president is completely under your control.” He’d watched as Sabrina caressed and cajoled
the stubborn older man most of the day. Tonight, Damian would show his followers just how much
control he had over the man. His blood heated at the thought.
Sabrina controlled the Elders and Damian’s other followers. He controlled her. Chase and his
friends could do nothing to stop them. They cared too much for Sabrina to destroy her. He’d
discovered this human weakness through his use of Devin. Vexing as it had been, Damian was coming
to believe it had been providence that Sabrina had escaped and married.
The sky grew dark and the air grew chilly. Men in black tunics tossed herbs into the braziers to
relax the Brothers gathering on the grassy lawn in front of the great stone eagle. They’d spent the day
visiting with one another, resting, relaxing, or using the girls in any way they desired. Many girls had
died the previous night and several more during the day. More girls had been brought in for tonight’s
hunt, though fewer girls didn’t mean less enjoyment. Brothers enjoyed men as much as women,
especially when high on drugs.
He’d ensured more girls would be brought to replenish the stock each day. Normally, Gatherings
ended Sunday night, but this year was a High Gathering to celebrate the Spring Equinox. It would
continue through Monday when Damian would take his full power into himself and shed the last of his
mortality.
Surely Kronos would make an appearance to try to stop him. Then Damian would unleash Sabrina
onto him. Sabrina was strong and devoted. And the one creature that could kill the Father of the
Immortals.
Chase, Alex, and Seth crept silently through the woods toward the Gathering site. They carried
weapons, in case of a run-in with the guards, but knew they would be useless if Damian caught them.
And they were forbidden from killing anyone associated with The Brotherhood, especially an Elder.
