of why, the thoughts were so dark, it made him shiver. The desires, the memories, the ideas, that
floated through his mind were so contradictory to what he wanted, he wished he could run away. But
Lia had warned him about doing that. She was terrified of Damian’s associates.
It broke his heart. How had he allowed his precious baby sister to get mixed up into something
like this? Why had he done such horrible things to her?
Growing up had been a dark experience. His father had been obsessed with his organization and
someone they anticipated returning. He and Lia had spent a lot of time together but separated from the
others. Albert was not kind to Lia, using and abusing her. Training, he called it. Damian had been
treated like a god but forbidden from many normal activities.
He shuddered as a dark memory flashed and he stood. “I’m going to take a shower. We need to
leave at seven.”
Sydney nodded. “Would you like me to please you before we go?”
Damian hesitated. She was incredibly talented sexually, and he was tempted. But his mood was
all wrong. “No thanks.”
Sabrina studied Damian over the dining table. He was different. Completely different. The dark aura
that had clung to him without her even realizing it was gone. The only reason she knew it had been
there was because it was gone now.
“You okay?” Chase whispered.
She nodded. “Just . . . curious about Damian.”
“Curious?”
“He’s changed.” Sabrina tilted her head as Damian glanced over at her and smiled.
“What do you think, Sabrina?”
“About what?”
He chuckled and put his arm around Sydney, who leaned her head on his shoulder. “Should we
elope like you two did or have a big traditional wedding?”
“We didn’t exactly elope . . .”
Sydney giggled. “I told you that, Damian. It was just a small wedding.”
“Small surprise wedding. Close enough.”
“I liked our wedding,” Sabrina said with a smile and put her hand on Chase’s. “It was perfect.”
“I guess that’s all that matters,” Damian said with a nod.
