needed to talk to her about it.
He turned back to the center of the room. “What’s involved in becoming her Master?” He knew
Alex’s story, and it had been cruel. “How does it happen?”
“It’s not overly complicated if both parties are willing,” Richard said. “You perform the ritual
before seven witnesses, which legitimizes your claim over her. I’ll make the arrangements for
tomorrow before the guardian ceremony. It would be easiest to do them at the same time.” He
watched Chase return to his previously vacated chair. “You need to talk to Sabrina tonight. I’m sure
she will agree if you ask in the right way.”
Chase nodded and tented his fingers, staring at his wedding ring. He hoped Sabrina wouldn’t be
upset when he asked.
Sabrina hurried up the stairs and dropped her bag just inside the rehearsal room. Martin frowned and
walked over to her. “Are you all right? We missed you this morning.”
She nodded. “I’m sorry, Martin. Last night—”
“She was sick,” Ethan said, stepping forward. “She ate something bad at dinner.”
Martin looked between the two of them and she suspected he saw through the lie. “Feeling
better?”
Sabrina nodded.
“Okay. Take a few minutes to warm up.”
Jayson walked up as Martin walked away. “You okay?”
“I’m fine.” She studied her friend, who was practically glowing. “You?”
Jayson grinned. “Yeah, Lia and I finally . . . She stayed at the apartment last night.”
Ethan grinned and patted Jayson on the back. “Good for you.”
“Oh, Jayson!” She hugged him hard. “I’m so happy for you.”
He grinned and laughed a little. “I am pretty darn happy.”

S ABRINA SNUGGLED CLOSE TO CHASE AS THEY CAUGHT THEIR BREATH AFTER A LONG LOVEMAKING
session. Her body still tingled from his touch.
He kissed her. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” She smiled. “I didn’t have a chance to ask you earlier how your trip was. I
thought you wouldn’t be home until late this afternoon.” Chase’s jaw clenched and Sabrina frowned.
