holding her tight against himself. “What . . .” She turned in his arms. “What happened?”

He smiled and kissed her forehead. “I think you were going to avenge Ethan.”

She looked at the door and back at Chase. “Oh, no!” Her body went cold and her knees collapsed.

He caught her before she hit the floor. “I got angry?” she whispered.

“It’s okay, Sabrina. I got angry too.”

Tears filled her eyes. “I could have hurt someone!” She buried her face in her hands.

Chase kneeled and held Sabrina close as she cried. How could she still lose control like that?

Other people were not safe around her.

“Sabrina. Remember, you were just with Theo. Your Immortalness is very strong at the moment.”

He kissed her temple. “You love Ethan and want to protect him.”

She pressed her lips together as a myriad of emotions and thoughts flew through her mind. “If

Ethan became my guardian, would he be able to stop me like you did?” she asked in a small voice.

“Whatever I can do, he’ll be able to do.”

She nodded and stared at the floor. Then her head snapped up. “I love Ethan?”

He laughed. “Don’t you?”

She looked back at the floor. “Is that okay?”

“Is it okay that I love him, too?”

She nodded. Her heart warmed at the idea. “What happened after he told you he was abused?”

“He offered to resign from the team but I couldn’t let that happen. I’d been in The Brotherhood for

several years by that time and I had learned that anal sex was enjoyable, if it’s done right. We talked a

lot, and he agreed to let me show him it didn’t have to be a bad experience.” He gave a small shrug.

“When we started, I had no intention of it getting emotional. Neither did he. But about halfway

through, we just looked at each other . . .”

Sabrina got lost in the mental image of Chase and Ethan in bed together. She shivered and leaned

up on her knees to kiss Chase soundly on the mouth.

When she pulled away, he laughed softly. “What was that for?”

“I liked the image you were putting in my head.”

“You did?”

She nodded.

“Hmm.” He glanced at his watch. “You need to get going.”
