information he had. It wasn’t like he had control of his life and time back then.

He ran his hand over his face and winced at the pain. That bastard really had gotten him a few

times.

But now that he knew where she’d been, where she’d been tortured . . . He would make sure that

place was burned to the ground, even if he had to go back and do it himself.

He smiled. That might make an enjoyable trip in the future. Sabrina might want to see it, too.

His phone buzzed on the lacquered table next to him. He frowned when he saw Ethan’s face. It

was early morning in Boston. “Ethan? What’s—”

“Chase, thank God you answered! It’s Sabrina. She’s . . . I don’t know. I went to check on her

when I woke up and . . . Fuck!”

Chase’s stomach twisted. “What happened?”

“I dunno. She’s comatose or something. She’s pale. She’s not responding. She’s winced a few

times, but other than that . . . Fuck, I don’t know what to do, Chase.”

He’d never heard such panic in his friend’s voice, which didn’t help Chase’s anxiety. He checked

his watch. He was an hour out from Boston. He buried his face in his hands. What on earth could he

do?

“Chase?”

“I . . . Fuck. I don’t know what to do, either.”

“Should I call Richard?”

“Yeah. Do that.” Thank God one of them was thinking clearly.

“I’ll call you right back.”

Chase dropped his phone on the floor and stared at the screen as it lit up and then went black. The

clock faded into view and he counted along with the seconds as they passed.

Theo!

There was no answer and Chase sat up and stared out the window into the black night. There was

nothing he could do from the air. He clenched his fists and jaw, willing the jet to go faster, to be

landing in Boston at that second so he could go home and see what was going on. To fix it.

He thought back to saying goodbye to Sabrina. The love in her eyes had made his heart nearly

explode. Would he see that again?

I have heard what is going on, Chase. Theo’s voice exploded in his brain.
