“Okay?”

She slid her arms around his neck. “I trust you. I trust that this is necessary. Let’s do it.”

His heart softened even more, remembering how hard it was for her to trust. Remembering when

they were first reunited, when she didn’t trust anything or anyone. “I love you.”

“I love you.” She lay back and kicked off the covers.

He let his gaze wander down her body to the apex of her thighs. Putting the ring near the pillow,

he leaned down and kissed her soundly. “With all that I am, I love you.”

DAMIAN SETTLED INTO HIS FAVORITE CHAIR AND CLOSED HIS EYES , RUNNING HIS FINGER OVER THE

diamond in his ring. He slowed his breath and concentrated on Sabrina—her scent, her soft skin.

The air pressed around him and the room spun. This was the uncomfortable part, but it was worth

it.

The air grew warm on his face, and he opened his eyes onto a white room that glowed

without a source. The room in the world between worlds where he could truly be himself,

without the mortal body of Damian limiting his powers.

But only for a little while longer. Soon, Damian’s body would be transformed into his

true self.

He walked forward a few steps and called out, “Sabrina!”

It could sometimes take a moment for her to appear, so he waited, thinking about what

he would do to her tonight. It was always a delight, having her when she didn’t want to be

had. Here, her defenses were weak. She was in his world, and he controlled all.

Damian frowned. She should be here by now.

“Sabrina!”

But she didn’t come.

What the hell was going on? She always came when he called.

He thought back to the missed phone call from Lia earlier in the day. He’d been in a

meeting and had forgotten to check the message. She wouldn’t have called unless it was

important.

“Sabrina!” His voice echoed.

Something told him the reason Sabrina wasn’t coming and that message were linked.
