“Marriage is a sacred institution. An institution that comes with rights as well as

responsibilities,” Javier, the Elder of Houston, stated solemnly. “Do you swear to honor and cherish

your wife as long as she lives?”

“I do.”

“Do you swear to uphold your duties to the Brotherhood within your marriage, including the duty

of providing a son and heir for the next generation of leadership?” Carl, the Elder of Chicago, asked.

Chase saw Sabrina swallow. He tried to give her a reassuring smile. “I do.”

“Do you swear to love and honor this woman above all others?” Lewis, the Elder of

Philadelphia, asked.

“I do.”

“While you will give and receive sexual favors to many as you take part in the Brotherhood’s

activities, will you swear that only your wife will hold your deepest heart?” Ted, the Elder of San

Francisco, asked.

“Yes.”

“Chase, you have an extra duty of care with Sabrina,” Richard said. “We know she is an Immortal

that has been given over to your care. You have duties not only to us as The Brotherhood but also to

the Immortals, whose blood runs through her veins. In all things, you must consider your actions in

accordance with their desires as well as your own. You must protect her at all costs. Do you accept

this?”

“I do.” Chase squeezed Sabrina’s hands gently.

“Sabrina,” Richard said. “Chase has vowed to love, honor, and cherish you. To protect you and

care for you. Do you accept him wholeheartedly as your husband?”

A grin spread across Sabrina’s face. “Yes. I do.”

“Then kneel at your husband’s feet.”

She kneeled gracefully and Chase put his hands on her head. Tom’s hand joined his as he closed

his eyes and chanted in the ancient Elder language. Sabrina swayed beneath their hands and Chase

tensed, but she didn’t fall. When Tom finished, he removed his hands and smiled, nodding to Chase.

“Go and bond with your wife with our blessing.”

Sabrina looked up, smiling brightly, and Chase bent down and swooped her up in his arms.
