Ethan and Sabrina did as Sylvia asked. The others went into the sanctuary, leaving Ethan and

Sabrina alone in the huge hall.

Chase and Sabrina had decided to have Ethan walk her down the aisle instead of Richard for

protection. She was happy with that decision. It would have been odd not having Ethan at her side.

“Why am I nervous?” she asked, her soft voice echoing against the wooden walls and marble

floor.

Ethan grinned. “It’s a big day. Nerves are natural.”

“They’re not a sign that I’m making a mistake?”

“Not at all,” Ethan said, his expression softening. “Do you think you’re making a mistake?”

“I don’t know if I deserve Chase.”

“Who’s to say anyone deserves anyone else? What does deserving have to do with anything?”

“But he’s such a good man. And I’m—”

“You’re what?”

“I’m me.”

Ethan squeezed her hand. “Yes, you are. What’s wrong with that?”

Sabrina sighed. “I’m not a good person.”

“Sabrina, your past happened to you. You did what you did to survive. No one faults you for that.”

“You don’t think Chase is ashamed of my past?”

“Has he ever given any indication of that?”

Sabrina shook her head. “Never. He’s always accepted me, despite what I’ve done.”

“Then let that be your guiding light. Let his love for you guide you in finding your own love for

yourself. You are a wonderful, beautiful, fascinating woman.”

She let out a long breath, determined to relax. “I’m kinda slow sometimes.”

“Chase is a lucky man,” he said in a rough voice. “But I’ll always be here for you,” he added, his

voice and eyes firm.

She put her hand on his. “I know. And I’m so thankful.”

Sylvia peeked out the door. “Ready?” she asked.

The moment had arrived. Sabrina swallowed and nodded, not trusting her voice to work.

Sylvia grinned and pushed open the door. A pianist began playing an arrangement of A Thousand

Years while Mark Pierce stood nearby, holding his violin and awaiting his musical cue.
