“Elara, are you ready?” a voice I recognize booms from the other side of the house.

“You’re going out with my sister?”

She laughs at my shock. I hadn’t even realized they were talking, which of course makes me happy. I want her to get close to my family. But Iseult? Mm…debatable.

Elara clears her throat and tousles her hair with her fingers in an attempt to fix it. So much I could do to that hair while I fuck her. Maybe bent over my desk. I think it’s time I christen it. Maybe get her pregnant like that.

Fuck, the thought makes my dick throb.

“Yes, I am. Is that a problem?” She curves a brow. “Iseult called me this morning and asked if I wanted to go shopping with her, so I said yes.”

Now, normally I’d say no, even with four of my men tailing her. But knowing she’s going to be with my sister, one of the best assassins I know, makes the situation a lot easier to process.

“No problem at all, baby.” I kiss her forehead, inhaling her fragrant perfume. “Have a good time. And please spend our money. I want you to spoil the shit out of yourself.”

“Okay, Mr. Quinn.” Her flirtatious smirk makes me ravenous. “I’ll make you proud.”

“That’s my girl.” I grab a fistful of her ass and drag her body into mine, kissing her one last time, her red lipstick already completely ruined.

She notices me looking there. “Ugh, it’s my lipstick, isn’t it? Is it that bad?”

“I mean, define bad.”

She groans, rushing into the bathroom attached to my office. “Tell Iseult I’ll be right out and that it’s all your fault.”

“Take your time. She can wait.”

While she fixes herself, I go to greet my sister, who has the patience of a toddler.

Her over-the-knee stiletto boots clack on the ceramic as she paces, talking to someone on the phone. Probably Gio.

“I’ve gotta go, babe. Gio says hi,” she says to me.

I nod to return the same.

“He says hi too. Glad everyone loves each other. I’ll see you later,” she tells him. “Don’t kill anyone until I’m back.”

He must say something to that because she rolls her eyes, but her face flushes.

Don’t wanna know.

She ends the call and places the phone in her bag.

“So, you and Elara are friends now?”

“Yes, we bonded over our mutual disdain for you.” She flips her hair back. “And our mild affection too.”

“Watch out for her.” I squeeze my temple, unable to stop worrying while Jerry’s still out there. “I can’t let that prick get to her.”

She grips my shoulder. “Not gonna happen with me around. I’d never let it.”

Pinching the bridge of my nose, I force my eyes to a close, taking a deep breath and telling myself that Elara will be okay. She has to be.

“Shit, you’re in love with her.”

I immediately stare back at her. “What? No, I’m not.”

She drops her hand to her side. “Oh my God. You are! You can lie to yourself, but not to me.” She lets out a short laugh. “It’s okay. It happens to the best of us. I won’t tell anyone,” she whispers. “Especially Devlin, since you’d owe him a million dollars.”
