Page 10 of The Funnel to You

I look forward to hearing from you.

Matt”

I don’t hesitate to respond back.

“Does your sister know this is part of your proposal to me? I don’t want her to be blindsided and I don’t want to put her in an awkward situation if she doesn’t want to do this.

Sasha”

He responds just a few moments later.

“Good morning, Sasha

Yes. I talked to her about the proposal last night if you were up to the idea. I told her it wasn’t a guarantee, but wanted to see if she would be interested if you were up for the mentorship program. She already has about twenty different questions and ideas to go over with you. Like I said last night, she really enjoys your content. But again, don’t feel pressured to say yes. Whatever you are comfortable with will be fine with her and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.

Matt”

I take a deep breath and put my phone down for a moment then go see if my roommates are here and awake. They are both sitting at the table enjoying their coffee and chatting quietly.

“So, I got my email back from Matt.” I say softly then pass over my phone to Kylie. They look over the proposal and their eyebrows raise at the same time when they get to the bottom.

“Um, how do you feel about this, babe?” Kylie asks me. I can tell she isn’t sure about this, and honestly, I don’t know how to feel about it either.

“Do you guys have any input? Because part of me is like ‘absolutely, where do I sign?’ and part of me is like ‘this feels borderline taking advantage of the situation’ – maybe for both of us. Or am I totally overreacting to this? I mean, this package is fantastic, and looking at his other clients, I know he knows what he is talking about. I’m too tired to think this through on my own.” I huff out and then take a seat. Carter gets up to refill my coffee mug and I can tell he’s thinking over his response.

“Do you want to mentor his sister and work with her?” He asks me. “Totally separate that from the rest of the proposal. If the opportunity came up to work with someone just getting started, would that be something you would want to do?”

“I’m not opposed to it. I don’t really know her. Just the bit we have talked on social media the last couple of years. She seems really sweet and the connection is a good one to have.”

“How long would the mentorship last?”

“Not sure on that one – let me ask.” I pull out my phone and ask Matt. His response doesn’t take long to come in.

“However long we want to set it up for. We can do six months or until she graduates and you two decide to open your own business together. (That last part was tongue in cheek by the way, totally up to you where you two go with this.)” Matt responds quickly.

“There’s that.” I show them my phone.

“I say go for it. This opportunity is huge and the mentorship will add another layer of what you do. Maybe it will turn into another service you provide – an internship opportunity virtually or in person to someone once a year. It doesn’t sound like anything too major. Maybe a Zoom call once a week or so and then a meetup or two. It doesn’t have to be a big deal. You are helping her out, she’s helping you out, you’re helping him out, he’s helping you out…it’s all the winning we talked about last night.” Kylie finishes her thought and then finishes her coffee.

Once she sets her mug back down on the table she continues, “Get your boundaries figured out with what you are comfortable with and then see what he says. This is your final say. Don’t let either of them have unlimited access, but I say make it happen.”

“You’re right. This is an amazing opportunity.” I nod and start writing down my stipulations on my phone. Hours I want to work, hours I want to be offline, I want meetings planned in advance, and would like to sit down with her to map out what this looks like for six months and then go from there.

“Email sent. Now we wait.”

“And if he ends up helping you in other ways…that’s not a bad thing either.” Kylie adds and gives me a wink.

“Girl, really? I know literally nothing about this man. And I am not going to flirt with him. This is a professional business relationship. That be that,” I respond absolutely mortified and stomp off to my room. Yes, I am approaching that scary thirty mark and just pouted to my room like a petulant child and I do not care. Really? Rude.

A few hours later, I had taken a nap and gotten dressed. I went with my dark wash skinny jeans, pink ballet flats, and a pink floral top. My hair is pulled back in a messy bun – still a bit wet from this morning and I don’t want to deal with it. I take ten minutes to do a soft pink eyeshadow look, pair it with a mauve lipstick and a light BB cream. Mascara and setting spray and I am good for the day. Will I be leaving the house? No clue. But I feel more human when my makeup is done.

I grab a salad for lunch from the fridge. Thank you, Carter for keeping me well stocked! Caesar salads are my weakness – always my first choice for a side or even a full meal. This one has grilled chicken and some extra parmesan cheese. Perfect. At the table I pull out my phone to see if I have anything new from Matt.

Luckily, there’s only a couple of notifications on my phone. I have an email from him and a new Instagram notification from his sister.

I open the email first.

“Hey, Sasha
