“I’m sorry for not calling beforehand, but I got caught up with something important today. Will you have dinner with me?”
“I’m tired and it’s late,” she complained. “I haven’t even showered yet.”
“I’ll wait until you while shower and as for being tired, I promise you a shoulder rub.”
“You’re going to give me a shoulder rub?”
“I promise.”
Stepping aside, she allowed him to enter. That’s when she noticed he was holding a large box in his hand which he handed to her. Closing the door, she followed him into the living room and offered him a seat.
“What’s this?”
“Just something I thought you might like,” he replied.
Setting the box on the coffee she gently pulled off the lid. Inside was a forest green satin dress complete with silver accessories. Cassie had never seen anything so exquisite. Checking the tag she realized it was in her size. She lifted the garment from the box and held it against her. The skirt flared from the waist and fell in folds down to her mid-calf. The sleeveless top half had a high neckline with a teardrop slit at the bust.
“How’d you know that green is my favorite color?”
“Our conversation yesterday, you did mention how beautiful the grass and trees were after the rain.”
“That’s very observant of you,” she replied with a smile. “But I can’t accept this.”
“It’s not for you,” he grinned. “It’s actually for me. I selfishly wanted to see what you would look like in it. So wear it tonight and return it if you like.”
“Are you seriously messing with me right now?”
He came close to her, crooked a finger under her chin and caressed her cheek with his thumb. “I know this dress won’t do you justice. But will you wear it for me, pretty please?”
Her cheek burned where his finger touched as current sizzled between them. She wanted to lean into this hand and rub against him like a cat, but she resisted the urge. He leaned closer and she anticipated their lips meeting. Cassie closed her eyes, pausing her breath for the kiss. Disappointment washed over her when his lips landed on her forehead.
She stepped back, catching her breath. “Give me fifteen minutes and I will be down in this dress.”
“Take your time.”
Devin walked towards the mantle with the electric fireplace. Cassie’s eyes followed him as he stood with his hand in his pocket as he studied the photos of her and as well as her grandmother’s. She moved behind him and touched his shoulder. Devin turned and she tipped, pressing her lips to his.
It was a sweet yet sparkling moment as she felt the current run through her. A soft moan erupted from him as his hands came up to cup her face. She’d expected him to deepen the kiss, take her tongue and show her exactly what he wanted, but he didn’t. When they pulled apart their eyes connected. She loved the way he looked down at her with desire and adoration rolled up in one. What she appreciated most about him was his reservedness, which showed her that he respected her.

Dinner was an intimate affair in a romantic atmosphere. The dim lights on the Italian restaurant set the ambiance for lovers. It stole Cassie’s breath. Devin was the ultimate date, taking her hand and walking with her from the car to the restaurant. He didn’t let go of her hand until she was ready to be seated and he pulled out the chair.
As soon as they were both seated at the small table, he reached across and took her hand, bringing the back of it to his lips. The man knew how to charm a girl and she was falling for it hook, line, and sinker.
“Have I told you how stunning you look tonight?” his voice was low and sultry just like the dozen or so times he’d told her so since she came down the stairs.
“I think you may have,” she beamed. “But you may say it again, and again.”
Butterflies were now fluttering in her stomach with each smile, each touch of his hand. Not to mention each time their thighs touched underneath the table, her belly quivered and a molten sensation presented in her center.
Although the Chicken Cacciatore was delicious, Cassie could hardly concentrate on enjoying the meal. Every second that passed she was acutely aware of his maleness. The smoky looks in his eyes told her exactly what he was thinking, which made her panties soak through. By the time Devin called for the check, she was anxious to get out of the restaurant and into the fresh night air. Her skin was flushed and her body calling for attention.
Chapter 12
It was their fourth date and Devin was convinced that he’d found the woman of his dreams. He knew she was special the moment he saw her, but now he was convinced that Cassie was more than a girl he wanted to possess. She was the girl he needed. The moment she came down those stairs Devin’s heart had gone into top gear and his dick wrestling against his slacks. He’d made a step in her direction, wanting to pull her into his arms and crushing her lips beneath his. However, he’d held himself back because he didn’t want to rush her.
What was happening between him and Cassie was unfamiliar territory. When he’d first saw her, he knew he wanted her. However, he had no idea that she would become his air. The first thought when he awoke and the last before he went to sleep was her. He wanted to know everything about her. Most of all he wanted to make all her wishes come true.
