‘No. Wait,’ he said, pulling back, fighting for control of his neurons as well as his breath. ‘What about your practice? Shouldn’t we talk about that?’
Jacqui shook her head. ‘I’ll sell it and buy something here. I don’t care where I live any more, as long as I’m with you.’
‘Oh. Good.’ He grinned at her for a moment, then zeroed in on her mouth for another wild ride into bliss.
‘Shep,’ Jacqui said, just as Nathan’s mouth brushed hers. She frowned at him. ‘He can’t live in a high-rise. He needs land. Rabbits to chase. Butterflies.’
‘I’ll get us a house,’ he murmured. ‘On an acreage.’ He dropped a light kiss at the corner of her mouth. ‘I’ll stock it with rabbits. And butterflies.’
Jacqui smiled. ‘See? We’re already better at this the second time round.’
He grinned back at her. ‘Lady, you can have whatever you want. Just don’t ever leave me again, okay?’
Jacqui sobered. ‘No way, Nathan Trent. You’re mine. Mine for life.’
And she gave him a kiss full of love and longing and promise.
Which he returned with gusto.
