I swallowed, closed the door behind me, and went to sit on the far side of the sofa as far away from Liam as possible. I noticed the way Damien snickered and I narrowed my eyes on him. He thinned his lips and looked down at his hands with my silent scolding look.
“Good afternoon,” I greeted.
“How are things, Hannah?” Declan asked.
I looked down at the tablet and started scrolling through the updates, “Things are looking fantastic for being so early in the project.”
“That’s wonderful. How are things personally?” Declan grinned at me and I narrowed my eyes. Then I turned my head to Liam.
“What did you tell them?”
“They already knew everything,” Liam admitted.
I turned off the tablet and set it on the table and smoothed out my skirt. I raised my eyes to the three brothers and lifted an eyebrow, “My personal life is fine.”
“Okay. Liam has brought a few things to our attention. Liam also wants to respect your wishes to keep your dealings professional, so he’s come to us with concerning information,” Damien said, and I pinched my eyebrows.
“What information?”
“Derek Wright,” Declan answered.
“I don’t understand what he has to do with anything?”
“He showed up at my office last week making threats and demanded that you be removed from this project. Obviously, that’s not going to happen, but afterwards federal agents showed up at my office asking questions about him.” Liam looked at me and my eyes went wide. I had to remind myself not to explode at the revelation of my boyfriend trying to sabotage my work.
“Evidently, Derek is associated with Salvatore Agosti,” Declan revealed.
“What?” I exclaimed in complete shock, because of all things, I wasn’t expecting to find out my boyfriend was associated with a crime boss. How many times was this going to happen to me?
“Yes, Salvatore is under investigation for fraud related to online advertising. Which makes your association with Derek a bit of a concern,” Declan shared.
“I can see how. I guess it’s a good thing I have plans to break up with him this weekend.”
“Oh … well, alright then.” Declan looked at Liam and then his brother.
“Look, Derek is a piece of shit. I wanted to break up with him a couple of weeks ago but it was bad timing with things he had going on and I took pity on him.” Damien snorted a laugh at my comment and Liam grinned at me when I glanced at him. “Don’t think this has anything to do with you. I’m sorry he showed up and I hope he didn’t cause too much of an issue for you.”
“You know I learned my lesson years ago when it comes to hiding things from you,” Liam remarked, and I shifted in my seat. Liam slid a file down the table towards me and I reached for it, “Bas got all that put together for me.”
Opening it, I saw images and documents showing that Derek was the stalker Liam had tried to protect me from. I gasped slightly seeing letters, pictures, and information I didn't even know about Derek. I never even knew I had a stalker until the day Liam and I officially separated six years ago. I didn't want to know who the stalker was concerned I'd get called in for an investigation after Liam said he took care of it. It looked like Derek started associating with Salvatore in order to have protection from the Teresi family, and that was when he started coming after me again.
“I will be honest with you. I have men watching you and him both. And before you try to tell me to stop, that’s not happening,” Liam revealed, and I closed the folder to glare at him.
“What is going on between you two? The tension is … thick,” Damien prodded with a grin.
“There is no tension.”
“Oh, there is absolutely tension, beautiful,” Liam teased, “There has always been tension.”
“Liam Ioannis Teresi, I swear to god I will make you regret the day you met me if you push this right now.”
“Oh, she triple named you,” Declan sang with a laugh.
Liam leaned forward, putting his elbows on his knees and not taking his eyes off me,“I could never regret that day. It was the day I met my future wife.”
I shut my eyes trying to calm the anger and decided it was best to not react and leave the office, so I stood grabbing the file Liam gave me along with my tablet and made my way to the door. As I went to open it, Liam was right behind me and slammed the door shut with his hand. I spun and gave him a death glare, but he glared right back at me.
“I won’t be ignored, Hannah. I’ve been fighting for you for a long fucking time now. I’m tired of you ignoring what we have,” he growled.
