My dad was the only family I had. More than that, I enjoyed having my dad in my life. It was important that we were able to visit him, hang out with him, and spend holidays with him and actually enjoy that time.

“Hannah told me you’re going to Trident King University for business.”

“Yes, I am in my final year of my bachelors and then I’ll be working towards my MBA,” Liam replied.

“That’s fantastic.”

“Not really. Fantastic is winning a scholarship to the top school in a field you actually got to choose for yourself. I was bred to do this, Hannah forged her own path.” Liam looked at me with pride.

“That she did.”

“And that says a lot to the nurturing she got at home to have the confidence and drive to do it.” Liam turned to my dad.

My dad smiled and nodded his head and looked between me and Liam. I couldn’t help but smile.

“You’re right, he is good,” my dad said. I laughed and Liam smiled at me.

“Let’s eat,” I said with a blush.

We spent most of dinner discussing school and future plans. My dad seemed to be completely normal with Liam. He avoided talking about his work when it was mentioned, which was a bit strange for him. Liam and I talked about a couple of the dates we’d been on and my dad looked surprised that they were mostly laid back dates.

Liam explained how much he disliked exclusive places because there was too much ass kissing, which my father actually laughed at. The last thing Liam wanted to do was put on a suit and eat food that wouldn’t fill him, while being around people who hadn’t discussed something real in their entire lives.

Liam might be an heir to an empire but he was one of the most laid back people I’d ever met. The next day I would into his world for the first time and I hoped that I appeared to be as calm as Liam was with my dad.

I called Archer a couple of days ago and we met up. He gave me pointers on body language, greeting, table settings, and similar rich people protocols. A huge part of me wanted to prove Liam’s mother wrong about me and show her how much I was able to fit into their world. Especially now that I saw how easily Liam fit into mine.

Dinner was a success and it seemed that Liam and my dad were going to be fine with each other. Which made this a bit easier.

I walked Liam to his Jeep at the end of the night and asked, “What should I wear tomorrow?”

“Clothes.” Liam smirked, running his eyes down my body.

“Okay, cool, I was planning on showing up naked.”

“I’d enjoy that a lot.” Liam gripped my hips and pushed me against his Jeep to kiss me.

“I’m being serious here.”

“My mom typically wears a dress to these things.”

“I’ll figure something out.”

I didn’t have a lot of nice things to wear but Ashley would help me pick something out. Not that anything I wore was really going to change Liam’s mom’s mind about me. I was fairly positive Liam was right and this was a trap of some sort. However, maybe if I impressed Mr. Teresi, it would make Liam’s life a bit easier with his parents.

“How about I come by early? You can model the options for me.” Liam winked at me. “Your dad is pretty chill.”

“Yeah, he’s good. I think he likes you.”

“I hope so because I plan on spending a lot of time with his daughter.”

Liam leaned down and kissed me softly before he left. I walked back into the house and my dad was sitting in his recliner staring off like he was lost in his thoughts.

Sitting down on the couch I asked, “So, what do you think?”

“I like him, he seems like he’d be good to you and that’s all I care about,” my dad said with a nod.

“He’s a good guy.”
