“My best friend.” Ashley pulled at my arm playfully and I rolled my eyes.

“Whack him on the nose and he’ll stop,” Bas suggested.

“He’s buried his face in her hair. How am I supposed to do that?” Ashley acted like she was trying to whack his nose.

“Get your boy, Bas,” I exclaimed.

“No way. He’ll attack me if I get anywhere near you.” Bas shook his head with a laugh and crossed his arms over his chest.

“How the hell does that work?” I asked.

“Obviously, he’s gone all caveman. He’s claiming you. You are his and the sooner you accept that the better off the world will be,” Bas explained, and I narrowed my eyes on the obviously dry humor.

“What?”

“Until you accept his claim, he will continue to be territorial, which means fighting anyone who gets near you. If you wait too long he might pee on you,” Bas joked with a laugh.

“Dude! Too far,” Liam laughed but turned to me and added, “Everything besides the peeing part is true.”

I paused and looked between him and Bas, then I looked at Ashley who was trying not to laugh. How did I put myself in this situation? Next time a guy tried sleeping in my bed because he was exhausted, screw the public’s safety.

“I’m so confused,” I complained.

“You’ll catch on soon enough.” Liam kissed my temple and Ashley raised her eyebrows while looking at me. I scowled back at her.

“So are we going to the cove?” Bas demanded.

“Yes we are, you two out, we need to get ready,” Ashley decided before I had a chance to say anything.

“Actually Bas, will you drive me home? I need to change too,” Liam asked Bas.

“You got a car,” Bas said, eyeing Ashley like she was candy.

“Bas!” Liam yelled and Bas scowled at him.

“Fine, let’s go so we can get back.” Bas winked at Ashley, who actually blushed, and I wondered what all went down between the two of them last night.

“Liam, here.” Ashley tossed Liam her key to my house. “Lock up and let yourselves back in.”

“Make myself a copy?” Liam grinned at me.

“Yeah, do that too,” Ashley joked as she pushed them out of my bedroom.

“Ashley!” I shouted at Ashley, then shouted to Liam, “Do not copy that key!”

“I can’t hear you!” Liam’s shout was muffled behind the closed door, but their steps pounded on the stairs before the front door banged shut.

“I don’t even have his number and you’re giving him a key to my dad’s house?”

“He’s not going to make himself a copy.” Ashley shook her head while she pulled out her phone.

“You don’t know that,” I grumbled. Ashley paused at that but then waved me off.

“Stop. I’ll steal the copy from him if he does,” Ashley assured me while tapping on her phone. A few minutes later, a text message came through on my phone.
