I took a seat at the bar and Hannah placed a plastic menu in front of me.

“Would you like coffee?”

“Yes, that sounds fantastic.” I nodded. When she returned with a cup of coffee, I ordered an omelet and she walked off to place the order. Soon, the diner started filling up. Hannah dropped my order in front of me and went to take care of other customers. A few of the customers knew Hannah by name and were striking up conversations with her. She smiled and laughed easily with them.

An older woman sat down next to me at the counter. Hannah got her a coffee and took her order. I finished my omelet as the woman next to me got her own food. Hannah took my plate and dropped the check.

“Oh, I’ll be staying a while, probably through lunch,” I informed Hannah with a smile.

“You’re kidding me.”

“Nope, the service is excellent.”

“You can’t sit here all day.”

“Of course I can. I’ll order every single thing on the menu if need be.”

“Is he bothering you, Hannah?” The woman next to me looked at me suspiciously.

“No, he’s… persistent.” Hannah glared at me.

Turning to the woman next to me, I explained, “Hannah and I hung out at a party last night and while she promised to give me the night to catch up with each other, she left the party early so she could be responsible and come to work this morning. So I brought her coffee this morning and came in just so I could spend time with her.”

“Oh my,” the older woman breathed with a smile, “that is sweet.”

“No Mary, it’s not sweet, it’s stalkerish,” Hannah retorted, refilling her coffee and my own cup.

“Yeah, that does seem a bit stalkerish,” the older man on the other side of me piped up.

“Thank you, Pete,” Hannah beamed as she walked down to give him a refill as well. I gave him a slight glare and he winked at me with a knowing grin.

“Stalkers don’t typically make their presence known immediately. Additionally, seeing as this is the first time I should get a pass. Of course, I could up the stalker vibes if you refuse a date with me.” Waggling my eyebrows at Hannah with a grin.

“Oh, is that how it works?” Hannah huffed a laugh but she was grinning wide. Putting the coffee on a burner and placing a hand on her hip, she turned back to me. The whole restaurant was quiet, listening to our conversation.

“Yes, I always get what I want, Hannah, and I want you.”

Waving her finger at me, Hannah teased, “It’s cute how you think that type of charm will work on me.”

“Oh it’ll work, I intend on wooing you.”

Mary gasped a laugh and Pete chuckled along with a few people who were sitting behind me too.

“Wooing me?”

“It’s what people do when they want to show they adore someone,” I explained, “They woo.”

Hannah huffed and walked away to go take care of some tables. Pulling out my phone, I texted a local florist and asked for every single orchid plant they could find and to deliver them to Joanne’s Diner as soon as possible. When the florist agreed, I told her to charge my card.

“You are something else. Do you have a single dad?” Mary joked with me and I sipped my coffee.

“Sorry my dad is married. You haven’t seen anything yet. Stick around, it’s going to be a fun day.”

Chapter 5

Hannah

Staying true to his word, lunch rolled around and Liam ordered a burger and fries to eat. Mary and Liam talked through most of lunch while the other two waitresses and I took care of customers. There had been a few times that Liam caught me staring at him, and every single time he’d flash me that damn arrogant grin of his causing me to fight off a blush.
