He grinned at me before he yanked a t-shirt over his head. “If you want to make it home to your kids before dawn, you might want to crawl your fine ass out of my bed and get your clothes on.”

“Decisions, decisions,” I teased again.

He groaned and then laughed. “Your kids better be glad I like them, or I would keep their momma here with me and send for them later.”

As caveman as that sounded, I liked it a lot.

It was almost four in the morning by the time Walker got me home. I thanked my lucky stars that it had been Trinity watching them last night and not my sister.

“Walker didn’t want to do the reverse walk of shame with you this morning?” Trinity asked.

I rolled my eyes at her. “There’s a bunch of stuff going on at the clubhouse right now. I’m pretty sure he needs to be there. It was hard enough leaving his bed this morning,” I grumbled as I moved to the coffee maker.

“Oh! Listen to you, you little slut. So, you spent most of the night tumbling through Walker’s sheets, huh?”

“No, that would have required us making it between the sheets to begin with. We did not.”

“Juicy! Tell me all about it.”

“That’s all you get. I don’t want to share those details with anyone. They’re all mine.”

“Greedy,” Trinity teased.

“Yeah, this time I am.”

“Good for you. I love seeing you all loved up.” She yawned and I swatted the air between us in a shooing motion. “Go on, get out of here. I’ll stay up and make the kids some breakfast and then I’m going to have a little sleep in this morning while they watch cartoons or something.”

Trinity laughed. “You do realize you have a 15- and 4-year-old right?”

“You never grow out of cartoons.”

“I’m available if you need me,” my friend called back over her shoulder as she grabbed her overnight bag and headed out the door.

I followed behind Trinity while the coffee brewed and made sure to double-check the locks and look around for any lurkers in the area. By the time I got back to the coffee, I had a few minutes to sit and sip while I thought about my night. I couldn’t believe that I’d had the balls to go down on him like that. It had always been an area where I was shy with my husband, and he found me lacking.

There was no rhyme or reason that I understood as to why I felt bolder in my actions, more alive and turned on while I serviced Walker than I ever had when I was with Josh. Maybe it was because it wasn’t expected and very appreciated by Walker. With my husband it had always been a demand, and he never reciprocated the way Walker did. Josh had been disappointing in the oral skills department to say the least. He barely made an attempt at it and when he did, he never managed to get me to the finish line before he gave up and thrust away at me until he reached his climax instead.

The girls had been telling me for years that I should have an affair or leave my husband so that I’d know what good sex was and exactly what I was missing by staying with him. After experiencing a night with Walker, I knew they hadn’t lied to me. Not that I would have ever had an affair, but clearly I’d been missing out on why people thought sex was so wonderful.

After I finished my first cup of coffee, I got up and started to make some pancakes, eggs, and bacon for the kids. Even on weekends, they were both early risers for some reason. It always baffled me, especially as a parent who worked nights and needed to sleep longer in the mornings, that my kids seemed to be the only ones that didn’t want to sleep in.

As if on cue, Ariel came bounding down the stairs a few minutes after I pulled the bacon out of the oven. “Wow! We get a full breakfast this morning?” She questioned. “You must have had a really good night.” I wasn’t sure how I felt about the inuendo laced in my daughter’s teasing. She was 15. I remembered that I wasn’t exactly innocent at that age, but as a mother, I didn’t want to accept that my baby was old enough to be making those kinds of jokes.

“Sit down,” I commanded as I rolled my eyes at her.

Ariel giggled. “Maybe I should call Walker up and thank him for making your night great.”

“We had a really nice date,” I insisted.

“Yeah, one that lasted until four in the morning.”

I turned so fast that it made me dizzy for a second. “How do you know?”

It was her turn to roll her eyes at me. “I heard you pull up. I think it’s great that you had a good time with him. You deserve to be happy too, Mom.”

“Well, thank you for that. Sorry we woke you up, though.”

“I’m not. It’s nice to see you smile.”
