“That’s all it took? The promise of,” she lowered her voice, “sex?”

“Sayeda, for you, I would have stood for a kiss on the cheek. For the chance to make love to you, I would run through this course two more times.”

“Do you mean that?”

“Absolutely not.”

She nudged him.

Several conversations started up at once, and he found his mind drifting again. Instead of Gage, Tayler, and their son, he saw him and Sayeda with a son of their own. Truly, it didn’t have to be a son; they could have a daughter like Larke and Dez or Julien and Ari. Lilly and Trevor were expecting, but Lilly was still early in her pregnancy.

Theo ran over.

Sayeda picked him up and loudly kissed his cheek, and the image of him and Sayeda with a child grew more insistent. It doubly didn’t help that she and Theo had the same eyes, and because of her resemblance to Ayesha, they looked like mother and son.

“Theo, we have a problem,” Sayeda said.

Theo’s eyes rounded. “What’s wrong?”

“You taste like pumpkin pie.” She kissed him again and smacked her lips. “And apple pie. And cookies. Ice cream.”

“No!” Theo, giggling, wiggled in Sayeda’s grasp. “Don’t eat me!”

“It’s too late! You’re too yummy!”

He shrieked.

She pretended to munch on him before she burst out laughing and held him close. Theo, known for falling quickly into baby mode, reveled in the snuggles, and Adrían briefly found himself jealous of the five-year-old, thinking of all he would give to have Sayeda snuggled against him.

“Tri-Theo-tops,” Joel called. “Time to go.”

“Can Auntie Seda and Adrían come in our car?” Theo asked, clutching onto Sayeda.

“‘Auntie can, but your mama said me and Adrían have to ride back with Uncle Gage.”

“Because you’re sweaty and stinky?”

“Say that to my face.”

Sayeda set Theo on his feet, and Theo shrieked as Joel chased him around the green as if he wasn’t half-dead only moments before. They all looked like what they’d been through, but Omega moved a little slower, a little stiffer.

After seeing everyone off, they headed back.

Once at the house, Adrían walked into the bathroom expecting to take a shower, but he found a full tub. Steam rose from the surface as he sank into the lightly scented water, and he moaned so loudly that Sayeda poked her head in and asked him to “keep it down.”

“Care to join me?” he asked.

She gagged. “Not interested.”

“I remember you making that sound for a completely different reason.”

“I never gagged.”

“You forgot?”

“It’s not my fault that I have an average throat and you have an above-average penis.”

With that, she left.
