“Yes, sir,” I say shortly. I’m not about to be disrespectful to the Alpha, but I’m also not exactly pleased to see him.

“Good. Nolan, I have something to ask you,” he says.

Thorne is big on that. Asking. It’s really an order, but it’s nice that he thinks he’s asking.

Nolan nods. “What’s up?”

“There’s… someone I need you to watch over. We’ve had some information come through that she might be in danger, and I need you to make sure she’s safe.”

“She?” Nolan says.

Thorne sighs. “Coral. The fae who lives just inside the pack border. There’s some weird shit going around, and I need to make sure she’s safe.”

Nolan frowns. “I’m on it.” He turns and walks back to his truck, and the Alpha gives Amara and me one last nod before he joins.

They both drive off, and I look down at Amara. “That’s not fucking weird. What does Nolan do for the Alpha, exactly?”

“You know, I have no idea. And I don’t want to know,” she says.

I shake my head. “Looks like we’re not the only ones with secrets.”

“Oh, I’d hardly say it’s a secret anymore,” she laughs.

I pull Amara close, giving her a long, lingering kiss. When I pull back, we’re both panting.

I look at the movers. “How much longer did they say they were going to be?”

“About an hour.”

“Is the guest house empty?”

Amara grins. “You want to see exactly how soundproof the walls are?”

“You read my mind, baby.”

Laughing, I take Amara’s hand, and we walk to the guest house.

The future I have with her is one that I never thought I’d have. It’s not big, not famous. Not the lifestyle that I expected.

But it’s perfect.

She’s perfect.

And I’m so fucking lucky to have her.
