I attempt to get off, but Hunter flips us over, and my eyes widen.
“What are you doing?!” I whisper
“We’ll be there in a few minutes, Aubs.” He says, then proceeds to leave kisses down my stomach, stopping right where I want him again.
“I’m craving you again,” my breathing becomes heavy as his lust-filled eyes look up at me, “now try to be quiet, Love.”
With that, Hunter brings me to another orgasm.
When we walk out of the room and into the kitchen, Aubrey looks at us and giggles as she plops a grape in her mouth.
“So Emma, what are you going to school for?” Hunter's dad asks as we sit at the dining table.
“I’m currently going for Business at the moment.” I take a sip from my water, setting it back down.
“But she plans on going to Juilliard next year, right?” Aubrey asks from a few seats down, looking at me with a bright smile.
Unaware that she knew about my plans, I shoot daggers toward Hunter, who avoids my gaze. “Yes, that's the plan, hopefully.”
“Are you into music like Hunter?” The question comes from Alec. When I look towards him, he has a hopeful look in his eyes. Weird?
“I do love music, but not quite like he does. I’m a dancer and have been taking lessons since I was five years old. It was my passion and my love. But I had an accident, and my dreams were put on hold for a while until I met Hunter.” I look at him, squeezing his hand. “He convinced me to get back into the studio, and of course, me being the most stubborn person in the world didn’t want to listen to him. Except I did, and I couldn’t be more grateful for it.”
Suppose he hadn’t pushed me to go back or had taken me to the studio on my birthday. Who knows if I would have gone on my own? He sees how much love I have for the art, and he understands that it’s my escape from reality.
“Interesting,” His dad says and turns to Riley to ask him about the cases he’s been working on.
Isn’t that just wonderful?
Dinner goes as good as you can expect it to be. There are a few side marks here and there about whether Hunter will choose Law or Med school, talks of work, and how the cases they each work on.
Once dinner was done, I stayed behind to help his mom clean up while Hunter went outside with his dad and brothers, and Aubrey went back to the studio they have here - which I must check out before we leave.
“Thank you for staying to help. Everyone likes to disappear and leave me to clean it up.” She sighs, drying off a plate and placing it in one of the cabinets.
“It’s not a problem at all, Mrs. Be- Kiley.” Embarrassment flashes across my face.
We continue in silence, but I can feel the tension brewing.
“I know how Hunter feels about coming home.” She sighs, placing the drying towel on the counter behind her. “He has this love for music that we don’t understand, and I’m not saying that I don’t like music, but for him, it’s a different kind of love.” She pinches the bridge of her nose with her forefingers and sighs, just like Hunter does when he doesn't understand something.
“You want what’s best for him just like any parent does. It’s understandable and I’m sorry for what I will say next,” her eyes squint at me and take a deep breath, “but you need to be supportive. Don’t go telling him that his love for music will only get him on the streets in a cardboard box.” I repeat the words she told him. He mentioned the phone call to me a few weeks later and took everything in me to not call her myself. “All it’s going to do is cause a wedge between the two of you.”
Kiley looks at me with a mixture of pride and hurt. A part of me feels that I’ve overstepped, but I know Hunter wouldn’t have been able to do this himself. “He loves you very much and doesn’t want to disappoint you. Coming from someone who didn’t even know if their dream was possible anymore, it tears your soul in half when it’s not reachable. I don’t want to see that happen to him.” Explaining this to her made me realize that the next steps for me would be submitting the audition tape that's stored on my phone and taking a chance on myself.
She looks at me, and a small smile spreads across her face. “My son told me about you when I asked for him to come to dinner. I was shocked, to say the least, when he asked if he could bring you because he has never once brought a girl home.” She takes my hand in hers. “Don’t get mad at him for this because I can tell that my son loves you very much, but he told me what happened, and my heart hurts for you so much. But if you decide to press charges, you can call me. We will take him down.”
Every emotion goes through me, and I want to pull away from her. Run away. Chad's words from last night come back, and my anxiety rises. She can see that I want to flee because her grip tights around mine, and I let out a deep breath, looking away from her.
“I want to make him suffer, but not if it makes me another number on a statistic list if I lose.” My voice becomes shaky as I look at her, seeing determination in her eyes.
“It won’t be easy, and reliving it will be hard. If you choose to go through with this I will be there with you every step of the way.” Her words mean more to me than she probably thinks. “You are not alone in this.”
Tears well up in my eyes, giving her a wobbly smile and taking a shaky breath. I try my best to say thank you, but words are stuck in my throat. She pulls me into a hug, and this time, it’s not awkward or uncomfortable. It’s warm and loving.
