Tyler looked at him in shock. “What?”

Sam smiled. “She told me earlier. She was asking for you.”

Tyler pinched the bridge of his nose. Despite everything, she still wanted him, loved him? He did not deserve this woman.

“I take it the feeling is mutual,” Sam said quietly.

Fuck. This was not a conversation he ever thought he’d be having with Sam. Thankfully, Dex, Liam, and Dale rejoined them.

“How is she?” Dex asked.

“She was alert, which is good. But it’s bad, Dex. She’s doesn’t have long.”

“What can we do?”

Tyler shook his head. Losing the battle with his frustration, fear, and worry, he finally snapped.

“Nothing! She needs surgery, dammit. We have to get down there now or she will die.”

“Ty, everyone is working to get her out as fast as they can,” Dex said.

“It’s not fast enough. This should never have happened. This is Reborn. They fucking did this. We knew they were planning an attack. We keep underestimating what they are capable of. You can’t tell me this isn’t personal. We caused this. This fucking war with these bastards started when we went to get Kelly. If we—” Tyler stopped at the look on Dex’s face.

“If we what? Tyler.” Dex’s voice was like ice.

Tyler stormed away before he lost it with his team leader altogether. Mira was trapped. That wonderful, innocent, beautiful woman was buried under tons of concrete, and he couldn’t get to her. He was part of one of the best special ops teams in the world and he couldn’t help her. Jesus, it was killing him. Why the fuck was this happening? Every damn time there was something good in his life, it got ripped away from him. If Mira didn’t make it, God...he shook his head, pushing the thought from his mind.

What was taking so damn long? They knew where they were now. How long does it take to clear a fucking path? Nothing else mattered. Not Dex, not Sam, not the team. He would give it all up if it would save Mira. She was living on borrowed time, and he couldn’t just stand around waiting for her to die. Like the others.

“HOW’S THE OXYGEN DOWN there?” Dex asked while keeping an eye on Tyler pacing back and forth a short distance away.

“Alright, right now. You need to keep Tyler in check. Don’t let him do anything stupid and hinder this rescue,” Sam said.

“Yeah. I got eyes on him.”

“Is Dale there? Was he inside?”

“I’m here. No. Was driving up, saw it go off. It’s good to see you alive, buddy.” Dale said, moving into the camera view.

“Yeah, you, too. How many dead?”

“Eight agents. There are three prisoners and two agents in the basement still unaccounted for.”

“The younger brother we were interviewing is dead. Can’t see anyone else. Did I just hear right, this is Reborn?”

“Yes, they claimed responsibility.”

“Jesus Christ.”

“Our thoughts exactly. This is personal,” Dex muttered. He wasn’t sure what exactly Tyler was about to say before he stormed off, but he could guess. The team rescuing Kelly had started this personal feud and now innocent people were dying. He got it. He was furious about the situation himself. Not at rescuing Kelly, but at Reborn still being active, still coming after them. They needed to be eradicated, once and for all.

“All that chatter about an attack. I didn’t see them targeting an FBI building, but I guess it is as good a target as any,” Sam said.

“What he says in the video, he picked it specifically.”

“What video?”
