Falling silent, they strapped in for landing.
“Dex?” Tyler turned to face him. “Thanks.”
Dex nodded. “Just get it sorted, Ty. I don’t like this version of you.”
They both leaned back as the plane began its descent.
“I don’t think I’m the only one with women troubles right now.” Tyler looked over at Steve, who had his head back and eyes closed.
“Do you know what’s going on there?” None of them had seen Diane for a while.
“No. You know Steve keeps things close to his chest.”
Dex looked at him in amusement. “And you don’t?”
“Yeah, OK, fair point. Hopefully it’s just a rough patch.”
“Let’s hope so.”
The plane came to a stop and the tail lowered just as Dex’s cell rang. Tyler watched him glance at it but put it in his pocket.
“It’s just Liam. He’ll have to wait. Jobs not done yet.” Dex stood and called over his shoulder, “Get Gomez up here.” Then he made his way to the top of the ramp.
Tyler and Donnie removed the rope from Gomez’s ankles and escorted him to the rear of the plane. Two blacked out SUVs drove up and stopped at the bottom of the ramp. CIA were eager to get their man. They waited until the men got out the vehicles.
“Grab the drives, Tyler.”
Tyler did as he was asked, and the two of them walked down to meet the agent in charge.
“I’m agent Douglas Kramer. Thank you for bringing him in alive.” The agent shook Dex’s hand and showed his ID at the same time. Sam had already sent the team a photo of the agent and the men would have been processed through base security.
“Our pleasure. Nice catch for you guys.” Dex said.
“Yes.”
Tyler wanted to roll his eyes. Typical CIA, always reluctant to share any details.
“When you’re done with him, make sure he rots in a dirty hole somewhere,” Tyler said.
“Harrison mentioned you got something else for us.” Kramer was all business.
Tyler held out the hard drives. The agent’s eyes lit up, his serious CIA mask slipping a little.
“From Gomez’s secure room.” Tyler handed them over.
“Fuck.” Agent Kramer finally softened. “How the hell did you—”
Dex cut him off. “You know how it is. Probably better you don’t know.” Dex cut him off. “But you have this man to thank.” He nodded at Tyler.
“Thank you.” The agent held out his hand to Tyler. “I’m sure you understand how valuable this intel will be.”
“We do.” Tyler shook his hand.
“I know you’ve been asked to pass on intel you find to our boss,” Dex said.
“Yes. We always share intel with Captain Harrison.”
Yeah, right. Like hell they did. CIA had their own rules. It all depends on what was on the drives. It wouldn’t be the first time evidence disappeared. Mira had told Tyler many stories.
