For my child, I will be gentle. I will be warm.

For myself, I will be kind. I will be smart.

And for my new family, I will be ruthless.

I will be a queen.

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife." The priest looks at Milo. "You may kiss your bride."

I gasp as fireworks crackle in the air, lighting the dark sky on fire.

"Come here, Wife," Milo grins, raking his fingers through my hair, his soft lips slamming against mine. "You are mine forever, tesoro."

"Forever?" I whisper, melting into his touch as applause and cheers surround us. "That doesn't seem nearly long enough."

Thousands of miles away, at this very moment, a warehouse full of weapons is being bombed and a man's life is ending.

This whole chapter is ending.

It's finished. It's finally over.

As red and white sparks twinkle in the sky and cascade down, I stare at my husband, taking in his rich brown eyes and the future they hold.

A life might be ending.

But mine is just beginning.

A life with him.

My husband. My king. My love.

Milo.

Five Years Later

MILO

I know she is here.

I can see her crouched down on the grass, her arms around Anna as they play. I can smell her perfume, the femininity and allure of her scent forever ingrained into my memory. If I were to stand up and take five strides forward, I could touch her. I could feel the soft curves of her body, run my fingers through her thick hair, rub that sweet pussy that is always so fucking wet for me.

She is here, right in front of me, and yet, as I bring a cup of espresso up to my lips, she does not seem real.

How can something so perfect exist in such an imperfect world?

It is a miracle that she has not vanished, that she has not yet disappeared without a trace, that her entire existence has not been a cruel joke. Every night when I fall asleep with her in my arms, I am afraid I will wake up and it will all have been a dream.

But she is here.

And only God knows why.

But I do not dare ask God the reasons for him bringing me an angel.

He might realize his mistake and take her away.
