Now, all I have to do is wait.
Like clockwork, the black car arrives in her driveway where I’m waiting. I watch the door open, and a muscular blond actor climbs out. He wears a cocky smile on his lips as he glances at the house, and he takes a quick picture in front of it.
Rolling my eyes, I walk out of the shadows.
He frowns and steps back as I approach before he blinks, his eyes widening and smile growing. “Holy shit, you’re Kage. I’m a big fan, man.” He holds his hand out, and I just stare at it with an arched brow until it drops. “Um, are you here for?—”
“Fallon,” I finish for him since his voice is irritating. “She changed her mind. She’s going with me.”
His brow furrows as he glances at the house, and I step into his vision to block it. “She texted me like an hour ago.”
“Well, things change. You can go now,” I reply, dismissing him.
“I’ll just ask her . . .”
I press my hand against his side and push him back.
He stumbles, his cheeks heating in indignation. “Dude, what the hell is your problem?”
Pulling out a wad of cash and a signed autograph, I throw them at him. “There, that will get you some of the fame you clearly want. You can go now.” When he continues to stand there, I step closer. “I suggest you take the offer while it’s still a nice one. Next time, it will be an order, and you won’t like what happens.”
“Fuck this, she isn’t worth it.” He grabs the cash and dives back into his car, taking off.
Grinning, I turn to the house and head up the steps, hitting the doorbell and waiting.
She doesn’t keep me waiting long, and when she opens the door, I stare.
Her hair is styled back from her stunning face, her eyes darkened and glittering with gold. Her neck is encircled by a huge gold necklace, and bracelets line her arm while rings adorn her perfectly manicured hands. The dress makes my cock jerk because she looks fucking stunning.
It’s a deep, glossy gold, with sleeves sliding down the top of her biceps. The fabric flows like water into a heart-shaped neckline with piles of glistening fabric. There’s a deep V between her breasts, leading into a wide band around her waist, and then the dress flares out, cascading down to her feet. The front has a huge slit, showing her long, perfect legs and black heels.
I swear there’s a fucking halo behind her head.
She looks like an angel, one I want to do terrible things to. I have the insane urge to mess up a small section of her hair to prove to myself she’s real.
“You look utterly perfect, Fallon,” I whisper, possessively dragging my gaze down her. “Like a fucking goddess ready to step into our world.”
She just stares at me, and I grin. “Kage.” She blinks, clearly confused.
I keep one hand in my pocket and offer her my other arm, knowing my eyes are blazing as I stare at my goddess. “Shall we, sweetheart?”
“Where’s—” She frowns, clearly trying to remember his name, and settles on saying, “My date?”
“Right before you. The other guy bailed, but I’ll gladly be your arm candy for the night.”
She frowns in annoyance. “No, I don’t like to be outshined.”
I take it as a compliment. “Trust me, Fallon, in that dress? No one could outshine you. Now let’s go before you’re late. I know you despise tardiness.”
She’s fighting her need to ignore me and her desire to be on time, and eventually, time wins. She barges past me, heading straight to the car I called for us. I hurry to keep up, still smiling, and open her door. Her nostrils flare as I offer her my hand. Grinding her teeth, she lays hers in mine, and I kiss the back of it, my dark eyes on her.
Both of us are caught in the moment, but then she swallows and looks away, climbing into the car. I bend down, making sure her dress is in before carefully shutting the door and walking around to my side.
Her gaze is on me, sweeping across my outfit. “Like it?” I ask, leaning back to show it off.
“It’s different,” she replies. “Not necessarily bad.”
“So sweet, my heart.” I wink as I take her hand. She tries to free herself from my grip, yanking on it, so I slide closer, placing our joined hands on her bare thigh.
