We tried… once.

:big eyes: uh-oh. Story for another day. Question for you… how do you deal with this heat? Ugh. Hotter than a witch’s tit!

I prefer wizards’, please, and thank you.

There was another long pause before Lee’s reply hit his phone.

Me, too.

Drew tapped the corner of his phone against his lips. He knew about Lee being gay, but now he wondered if, maybe, Lee was a closeted D&D geek, too. Drew preferred live-action to role-playing. He chuckled under his breath. Except in bed. He could go either way there.

If Lee was into the medieval times, though, Drew would love to take him to the Sherwood Forest Faire in the spring. He went every year, dragging a reluctant Mac with him. It’d be nice to have somebody to enjoy it with.

 Kinda got that impression.

Ha! Okay. Gonna hit the shower… Later.

Drew tucked his phone away as images of a naked Lee danced through his head. As much as he loved Mac’s lean frame, having someone with muscles equal to his had its own appeal.

In the meantime, he had a cover letter to update and a resume to send, and then he’d keep his fingers crossed until he landed the position.

CHAPTER 9

LEE

Lee laughed aloud reading Drew’s response. Wizards’ indeed. He sent a return message and then tossed his phone on the bed before stripping off his sweat-damp T-shirt. The cool air of the room pushed by the overhead fan swept across his skin and he involuntarily shivered. Hot. Cold. Hot. Cold.

A lukewarm shower to rinse the sweat away before he started meal prep went a long way toward making him feel human again instead of a melted popsicle. Noticing the flashing notification light on his phone, he grabbed it and thumbed it on, suspecting a teasing, flirtation retort from Drew.

It wasn’t Drew, however, who’d texted him.

Mac:

Hey. It’s me. Just taking fifteen at work. Katy has been asking me questions nonstop about you, so you’ve been on my mind. How’d practice go today?

Hey yourself. It was good. Tiring. Got a little dehydrated and crampy.

Remembering Cutter’s instructions, Lee grabbed a bottle of water and added a packet of electrolyte mix, hitting send as he shook it up.

Uh-oh. Hydrate!

I am. I am. LOL

Good.

Btw, possibly scored that internship for Drew. He’s sending over his resume now to our med team leader.

Really?! That’s great. Ty!

Lee ducked his head, feeling his cheeks heat, and then felt further embarrassed since there was no one to see him blush.

Eh. It was nothing.

Lee, it absolutely was something. Drew’s been really worried about having a job somewhere in the sports field. I seriously cannot imagine him stuck in a hospital or nursing home working with senior citizens. He loves being outdoors. If he offers to take you hiking, go. I swear he was a forest ranger in a past life.

 Thank you. I will.

Good. Okay. Gotta go. Boss lady has arrived. **shakes fist at Momma**
