That brought me back to my senses like a bucket of water thrown over me. I pulled away from the siren, and we both stood staring at each other in shock while trying to quieten our panting breaths.

Expecting the guard to hear our breathing, we peered over the railing, but luckily he was whistling away to music he was listening to through earbuds. He pulled open the door of the floor directly below us and disappeared inside.

God, that was close.

“We’d better get out of here before the guard comes back,” she whispered, pushing past me and heading quickly downstairs.

Unable to do anything else but follow, I checked out her bottom as she descended the stairs.

When she stopped just before the door the guard had disappeared into, she caught me looking. Smirking, she raised her eyebrows at me in question. Shrugging, I returned her smirk without remorse.

Well, I was a hot-blooded guy who hadn’t been laid in a while and we’d just enjoyed a searing kiss that had made my toes curl after all.

Smiling at the memory, I waited, watching her as she sneaked a look through the small glass window in the door before nodding at me, sprinting past and continuing down the stairs. I kept pace until we got to the ground floor. She headed for the side entrance, but I pulled her back.

“This way, Little Miss Red!” I said, gesturing towards the emergency exit in the basement.

At first I thought she was going to protest, but thankfully she didn’t and instead let me lead the way. Once in position, I let Marko know to unlock the door again. Almost immediately, the lights flickered. I grabbed her hand, and then we were outside and running.

Once we got a block away, I kept hold of her hand as we slowed down to catch our breath. I told myself I needed to find out who she was and what information she had on Mathieson, but in truth, I was reluctant to let her go. However, I could see the wheels turning in her mind now that we were no longer in danger of being caught and realised she was about to bolt.

Uh uh, baby! I pulled her back as she tried to run.

Turning her around, I pushed her into a nearby doorway, pressing her up against it. Just like before. Only this time, instead of putting my hand over her mouth, I grabbed her face, tilting her chin, and captured her mouth in another searing kiss.

Expecting her to fight this time, I was relieved, and a little surprised when she didn’t. Instead, she clutched my jacket and returned the kiss with an enthusiasm which excited me.

Lifting her up high, I literally plastered myself against her, desperate to be closer to her. She must have had the same thought as she wrapped her legs tightly around me, grinding against my hard on.

God, I want her!

“What the fuck?” Marko’s voice hissed in my ear.

“Are you kissing that woman?”

Shit! I had forgotten he was listening.

Ignoring him, I reached into my pocket, pulled out a card, and removed a tiny object. Forcing myself to break off the kiss, I rested my forehead against hers and slipped my hand behind her neck and stuck it to the label of her hoodie.

After gently setting her down on the ground, I took a couple of steps back to stop myself from grabbing her and kissing her again.

“What’s your name?” I asked.

“Tell me your name,” I demanded when she hesitated.

She opened her mouth to speak, then clamped it shut, shaking her head.

“I need to go!” she cried, then turned and bolted off down the road. My body wanted to give chase, but there was no need.

“Marko, open your system and trace the tracker I just put on the woman,” I said.

“Got her!” he confirmed within a few seconds, and I grinned.

Little Miss Red might think she could escape me, but she would soon discover that she could only get away from me if I allowed it. Even if I didn’t want to know what she was doing at Mathieson’s and what information she had, I wanted more of those kisses, and that alone ensured we would see each other again. Soon, very soon!

When the SUV pulled up, I was still grinning at the thought. Vlad was driving, as always. Marko was in the backseat with his laptop open, so I climbed into the passenger seat, hoping to avoid too much scrutiny from him.

Noting my expression, Vlad simply raised his eyebrows and smirked, but said nothing about the incident I knew he would have overheard too. Good man. He could always be relied on to be discreet.
