My eyes fluttered open the next morning as I stirred awake. I felt the warmth of a fire and looked at the blazing fireplace in the corner. Forcing myself to look around the huge bed, I realized that Alex was nowhere to be seen.

My heart skipped a beat, and a part of me felt used. Why would he just wake up and leave me like that? Then suddenly, I heard the bathroom door open, and my neck snapped in that direction.
