I know we’re going to have to face what this all means at some point, because this life isn’t very safe. Belonging to us means he’ll be a target forever.
Embracing them both, I say, “It doesn’t really seem like such a hardship. Now get back to work.”
Jordan’s snort as we find seats in the empty train makes me smile as he works on ensuring that everyone who traveled in from outside of the country can’t leave. I can only imagine how pissed off they’ll all be.
Too bad I won’t be able to hear their screams.
Chapter Fourteen
Jordan
The new hotel is a boutique, quiet, and beautiful. It’s also tucked away from the busy streets of New York City, without a chance of anyone finding us. I booked the room under a pseudonym, and no one glanced twice since it was so late when we arrived.
Regardless of all of that, I’m still restless. I’ve tossed and turned for an hour, getting more and more annoyed that I can’t turn off my brain.
“Jordan!” Brendan hisses from the room across the hall. Blowing out a breath, I sit up, scrubbing my scalp, uncaring that my sun-kissed hair is most likely sticking out all over the place now.
“Yeah?” I ask, wincing as I throw my legs over the side of the bed to the ground. It’s so fucking cold in and out of this room. I’m almost tempted to put on the heater, but it’ll mess up my sinuses.
“Come here,” Brendan says, making me roll my eyes as I pull on a long-sleeved sweater. I don’t like to sleep in a ton of clothing, but this is ridiculous.
Teeth chattering, I cross the hall to Brendan and Líadan’s room, surprised to find that it's warmer in here and not stuffy.
“I can hear you flailing,” Líadan sighs, propping her head up on her fist. “Why can’t you sleep?”
“It’s freezing in my room,” I complain. “How is it so warm in here?”
“I turned the heater on,” Brendan teases me. “I also have a dehumidifier running too. Otherwise the heater fucks with my sinuses.”
“Bless it,” I groan. “That’s exactly why I haven’t turned on the goddamn heater.”
Snorting, Brendan pulls Líadan closer to him and into the middle of the bed. “Get in, Jordan, because I can guarantee none of us will be able to sleep until you do.”
“I don’t bite unless you ask nicely,” Líadan says sweetly, making both Brendan and I snort as I pull off my sweater.
Leaving on my joggers, I begin to crawl into the bed when I realize Líadan is naked.
“Little one, why the fuck aren’t you wearing any clothes,” I groan, laying on the corner of the bed as I get comfortable.
“I hate clothes in bed,” she complains. “I’m going to rub myself all over you while I sleep, so be prepared for that. I also have moments where my hand may end up down your pants.”
Brendan gives a low chuckle that goes straight to my dick. “Lía is a liar,” he says. “She absolutely bites without permission. I swear I have teeth marks on my body from a few weeks ago. Our little brat is lucky she’s perfect.”
Líadan preens as I process his words. “Ours?” I ask, turning to face them. I know I said I wanted to move things forward, I just thought I’d have to work for it more.
“I don’t have time for games,” she says. “I know I want you, I know you’re loyal and will help protect us, the rest will come with time. Life is too short to worry about the minutiae of the details, unless you’re planning a hostile takeover.”
“Even then, things pop up,” I chuckle, remembering the way things changed rapidly at the club. “I thought we were going to go on dates and get to know each other first. I haven’t been in a relationship in a really long time.”
“A date?” Líadan asks excitedly.
“Fuck,” Brendan mutters. “Yes, we should definitely go on dates because Lía has never been on one. I haven’t either if we’re splitting hairs. We kept our relationship very under wraps. We don’t need to do that anymore.”
“I’ll plan something,” I murmur, the wheels already turning for things to do in New York City. “Until things settle in Chicago, I’m sure we’ll need to watch ourselves, but we can still find ways to have fun. Not to be forward or anything… Can we get an electric wand for fun?”
Líadan practically purrs as she wiggles away from Brendan to snuggle against me.
“So, I gather you enjoyed that?” she asks with an open smile as she looks up at me. There’s darkness and light fighting in her features, which I can clearly see in the ambient light from the streetlights outside.
