“For the way we both used each other to get away from others.”
I waited until we both exited the car to continue. “I ran into you, literally escaping Reaper and the bikers at the Hound and Tea. It was my motivation to agree to pretend to be your girlfriend.”
He grunted a laugh. “And I proposed that fake dating thing so I could get away from Vanessa and make her stop pursuing me.”
I nodded, walking alongside him to enter the doctor’s building.
“We were both running from others, but it was exactly what we needed to be pushed together.”
He smiled down at me and squeezed my hand. “Like it was meant to be.”
“Yeah.” Now and forever. I laid my hand over my stomach, still flat but holding our child.
Meant to be, little one.
I liked the sound of that. And I vowed to make sure our baby was always loved and cared for, not abandoned to work or other callings.
I gave my heart to Dante, and I knew he’d given me his. Together, we’d be here for this baby, and I just couldn’t wait to meet him or her.
