“Mom,”I groan. “I’ve just landed.”

“But Jenna,” she whines. “I’ve not seen you in months. It’s labor weekend, I thought you’d be with me.”

I walk through the airport doors, pulling my case alongside me, the Texas humid heat is something that I’ve missed. “Mom, you’re in Fiji. What do you think I was going to do? Come join you on your honeymoon?”

She sighs. “I miss you Jenna.”

“I miss you too. Besides, we’ll catch up when you get back.”

“That would be great. Have fun at your dad’s. I’ll call you soon. Love you.”

“Love you too, mom, enjoy your honeymoon.”

Mom got married two weeks ago, it was a quiet ceremony with just her and Peter. I wanted to be there but mom wanted a small ceremony with just the two of them. She joked that it’s her third time, I had been present at the previous two, there was no need for me to be present for this one. They’re planning a celebration when they get back from Fiji.

I hail a taxi, it’s almost fifteen miles to dad’s house. Thankfully, there’s a lot of taxis waiting outside the airport. I spent the last two years of highschool here in Texas. Mom’s second husband, the man I call dad, had been with mom for three years before they married. Mom and I moved over two hundred miles from our home in Durant, Oklahoma to come live with Mason in Dublin, Texas.

My biological father left my mom before I was born, he didn’t want children and wasn’t prepared to settle down. I’ve never met him, and I don’t have any wishes to do so. When I was six mom married Jason, he was nice but they had only been dating three months before they got hitched, their marriage lasted nine weeks before they called it quits. After that mom was wary about who she bought around me, wanting to make sure it was the real deal before I got attached only to have them leave. When she met Mason, I didn’t meet him until they’d been dating for almost two years, and with Mason, came his step son, Cole. He’s four years older than me and was a jerk when I was in high school, he treated me as though I was an inconvenience. I haven’t seen him nor dad in four years, I went to college and then got my dream job working in a lab. I’m a geek, I always have been. I talk to dad every week, it’s our way of catching up, I usually ask how Cole’s doing and dad will always reply the same. He’s fine.

Now here I am, sitting in the back of a taxi on my way to Dad’s house. He invited me to stay with him for labor weekend when he found out that mom would be on her honeymoon. I’m nervous but also excited, a lot has changed since I last saw them.

The taxi stops outside dad’s house, there’s lights on inside, there’s also two cars in the drive. Is Cole here too? Stepping out of the taxi I hear a door opening.

“Damn, Jenna is that you?” Cole’s deep voice calls out and tingles spread through my body.

Turning to look at him, my mouth waters. Cole’s changed a lot since I last saw him. Gone is the acne clad, gangly teen, instead a chiseled God stands before me. A gorgeous smile that shows off his handsome face. The black t-shirt he’s wearing showcases all of his muscles. His green eyes used to be so bright and filled with happiness, now they look full of pain.

“Expecting someone else?” I quip as I turn back and pay the taxi driver as he passes me my luggage.

Cole laughs. “No, I wasn’t sure what time your flight arrived. Besides you’ve grown up.”

I raise my brow as I watch him take me in. His eyes raking over my body, darkening as they reach my breasts. I saunter up toward him. “I’m not the only one,” I reply huskily, my eyes gazing down his body. Boy, did he ever grow up.

He groans, “Dad’s not here yet. He’s gone into town, he’ll be back in a while.”

I smile. “Perfect, it gives us time to catch up.” I push past him and into the house. “Let me get rid of this bag first and have a shower, I hate flying.”

“Need any help?” he whispers in my ear and my body shivers in response. Is that a double entendre?

I shake my head taking a step away from him before I do something stupid, like kiss him. “No, I’m good, thanks.”

His hand skims my arm as he walks past me. “You know where your room is right?”

I nod, unable to speak, what the hell is going on with me? I’ve never felt so attracted to someone, I’ve never wanted to kiss someone as badly as I do right now. Worse part, it’s Cole. My stepbrother.

Walking downstairs I hear the TV, I wonder if dad’s home yet? I’m so stupid, I put on the tightest tank top I own, along with my short jean shorts. They make my ass look good, I know the only reason I dressed this good is for Cole. How pathetic is that?

Stepping into the sitting room, I see Cole lounging on the couch, his feet up on the coffee table with a beer in his hand. “Dad not home yet?” I say and watch as his gaze comes to me.

Of course he zero’s in on my breasts and naturally my nipples pebble. “Not yet, Jenna.”

I nod. “So, what are you doing home? Are you living here now?”

His eyes widen, “Dad hasn’t told you?”

I frown, what am I missing? “Told me what?”

He sighs as he gets to his feet. “Let me get you a drink and we’ll talk.”
