Kincaid looked down. “He did what?”

Cody pointed to the crystal. “When they was showing us around, they said that was a magic squire crystal. I knew the magic words, so I knew I had to call for help.” He sniffed. “I was really scared though,” he admitted his eyes filling.

Aiden reached down and picked up the boy, holding him close. “Being a warrior doesn’t mean you are never afraid. It means you are afraid, but you do the right thing and protect others anyway. I’m very proud of you Cody.”

“Warriors get scared too?” Cody asked.

“I get scared all the time.” Aiden leaned in. “Have you seen who I’m mated to?” he asked, in a fake whisper.

Cody giggled.

Meryn rolled her eyes, then kicked the back of Aiden’s knee.

Kincaid looked around. “Where are mom and dad?” he asked Giles.

“They went to the city to help in case anyone needed healing.”

Aiden turned to Kincaid. “Your parents can heal?”

Her mate nodded. “It’s the same as me. Even when my other magics were malfunctioning, I knew I could heal.” He pointed to his siblings. “With five little kids running around I think it was a necessity.”

Aiden nodded. “I can see that.”

Giles exhaled. “Mom is gonna freak out.”

Kincaid placed a hand on his shoulder. “It’s because she cares so much.”

“I know, it’s just there’s always so many tears.”

Aiden put Cody down and pointed to the door. “Let’s head back. Darian and Brie went directly to the palace so I know the queen will want an update.”

Kincaid turned to Kyrn. “We’ll probably be having dinner there.”

“Very good.”

Zadie placed a hand on Cody’s shoulder. “Can you make sure Kincaid’s mom gets extra hugs?”

“I can do that!”

Giles smiled. “We finally get some back up.”

Aiden scooped up Meryn. “Let’s report that our infestation was handled by our squires.”

Zadie kept a hold of Kincaid’s hand. It didn’t matter where she was, when she was with him, she was home.

Chapter Fifteen

“What do you mean they rode in on wolves?” Meryn demanded. She would have given anything to have seen that. She’d have to ask Aiden for a wolf later.

Aiden nodded. “I fully admit. It had to have been one of the most impressive entrances I have ever seen.”

Zadie looked at Cord. “I don’t know. I think the squires were badass when they appeared in the kitchen.”

Cord smiled and simply placed another spoonful of salad on her plate.

Aiden turned to Darian. “If you add up how many we eliminated at the facility, the ones from the attack earlier, and the team the squires took out, there can’t be that many of them left.”

Meryn snorted and took a huge bite of a brownie.
