Tyler shakes his head. “No way. I’ve only got one shot at this. I’m going to get it right.”

I laugh. The two of them are perfect for each other. There’s no doubt in my mind that Tyler will figure it out soon.

“Sophia, are you feeling okay?” I ask as my eyes shift to her. “You’ve barely touched anything on the table.”

Her eyes flick to mine and I see something nervous in them. Her face flushes a little red, and then her eyes slide over to Gabriel. Beneath the table, I see him reach for her hand.

“Come on,” he says quietly with a smile forming behind that beard. “Everyone else is sharing news.”

Excitement spikes in my blood and I sit a little straighter.

I watch a hesitant smile form on Sophia’s face, and sheepishly, she looks up around at everyone at the table. “Gabriel and I are having a baby.”

“Are you kidding me?” Noah declares, the excitement all over his expression. “I’m…I’m going to be an uncle? You’re…fuck, Gabriel, you’re going to be a dad?”

A wild smile pulls on Gabriel’s face, and I’ve never seen anyone look so proud as he nods. “She took the test a week ago. We were just waiting to tell everyone so we knew everything was going okay. The doctor said everything looks perfect.”

“Shit, you must have gotten pregnant the second we got off tour,” Tyler says as he raises a glass.

“That was the plan,” Sophia says with yet another blush.

And with that news, everyone laughs.

But my heart starts beating faster.

Because now it’s my turn.

If everyone is going to share news, if this is going to be remembered as the day all of our lives moved on to the next level, I guess there’s no better time than now.

I reach for Noah’s hand under the table, and my heart beats even faster as I meet his eyes.

“I was awake so early today because I threw up this morning,” I confess. But the table grows quieter, listening in to what I’m telling my husband.

Noah’s expression goes slack and his eyes grow wider.

“Are your boobs crazy sore?” Sophia asks, excitement picking up in her tone.

I don’t look away from Noah as I nod.

“Are you sleeping like the freaking dead?” Sophia continues.

I bite my lower lip as I nod once more.

“Kennedy?” Noah asks as his eyes suddenly start welling and a smile starts pulling in one corner of his mouth.

“I haven’t taken a test yet,” I say as my own smile starts taking over my face. “But the symptoms are pretty hard to deny.”

“You are so fucking pregnant,” Sophia declares as she launches to her feet and she hugs me from the side. “I’m so glad I’m not going to feel miserable alone!”

“We’re having a baby?” Noah asks breathlessly as he blinks three times fast.

I can’t fight the smile anymore as I nod vigorously. “We’re having a baby, Noah.”

And he scoops me into his arms, squeezing me so tight. He buries his face in my hair, taking in a deep, desperate breath.

“We’re having a baby,” he repeats, and I feel his tears break free, landing on my bare shoulder.

Eight months ago, a different woman told him the same thing.
