“You don’t know. You know nothing.”
I squeezed his hand. “Yes, I do know.”
He smoothed over my fingers with his thumb. My hand looked so small in his. “How?”
“Let’s just say I have inside knowledge.” A dickwad who calls himself Dom.
He narrowed his eyes, tilting his head at me, looking so sexy. “What are you up to, Gretta Nelson?”
“I can’t say.”
He laced his fingers in mine. “So you’re the one with secrets now.”
“Just promise me you won’t bow to their demands to protect me.”
He brought my hand to his lips and slowly shook his head. “No can do, babe,” he breathed into my skin. “Let me be your Hercules.”
I grinned and batted my eyelashes. “My hero,” using a really bad Southern accent.
There goes that dimple. He bit my hand and I knew we’d be going back to his place after this to ‘practice’ for the rich, pervy folk in masks. The more practice the better with that body of his.
The tightness in my chest for withholding information from him, after he confessed to me bothered me a little. There were so many things I wanted to tell him at that point and I felt so close to him at that moment that I could’ve easily divulged everything. I bit my lip and held back.
There’s a plan and I had to stick to it. No matter whom I deceived in the process.
NINETEEN
Ollie
I’d just got out of class and was walking across the boulevard towards the basketball court, when I was accosted from behind.
Cody.
My mind was on Gretta and the great night we had after dinner in my bed the other night. Practicing like the good students that we were. Unfortunately, she had to leave four hours after we landed to tend to her mom. She seemed satisfied. I definitely wasn’t. I could’ve gone all night.
“What the fuck are you doing, man?” Cody pushed me into the wall. I’m a little bigger and broader than Cody, but he’s angrier, always so damn angry.
“You snitched,” he growled like the black bear that used to break into our woodshed back home. He grabbed me by the scruff of my tee shirt and shoved me against the outside wall of a classroom.
“What the fuck are you talking about?”
He tried to lower his voice, but his tone was so deep I’m certain a ton of people nearby heard. “You’re the only I told about Fisher placing hidden cameras in the chamber.”
“Yeah,” I frowned. “What is this about?” It then occurred to me that it was Friday and the orgy was booked for Wednesday. “What did you find out?”
“Someone knew about the cameras and removed them. And the only person who knew about it, outside Fisher and the math geek, was you.”
“Maybe they saw them. How well were they hidden?”
Ignoring my suggestion. “Who the fuck did you tell?” His hot breath was tainted with dirty coffee, like that crappy shit you get in cheap diners.
“I didn’t tell anyone. I swear. How do you know it wasn’t Fisher?”
He released his grasp on me and wiped his nose with the back of his hand. “You better not be lying to me.”
“Dude, I want to see an end to this as much as you. Why the fuck would I snitch to assholes that are actively making our lives hell. How do you it wasn’t Fisher? Maybe he told his girlfriend-”
“Even if he did she’s the last person in the world who’d fucking sabotage this. So, I figured it had to come from you, since you’re determined to do everything lawfully.”
