Page 33 of Devious Gambit

“See, this is why she needs to smoke pot, Tris,” Lise justified. “She’s freaking out. She’s going to snap, I tell ya.”

I checked the time on my phone to see if it was time to head to work and noticed a message from Mr. Ed. I turned the notification sound off, because it was messing with my already wound up nerves.

SexEd: Fancy a lesson tonight?

Even the thought of having sex with Jace made me nervous, especially after seeing how big his penis is. However, I really needed something to take my mind off the awful guilt haunting me every moment of the day. Besides, I still had unfinished business, finding out who hurt that girl. Unfortunately, Gretta informed the members of Worm and Mug anti-society society of our devious plan and now they wait expectantly for me to report to them. What a predicament I’d gotten myself into. I couldn’t back out now. I couldn’t let them down and using sex to extort information out of someone was as old as the hills. Yet, I’m hardly an expert at manipulating men by using wily ways.

Me: I thought you’d given up on me.

SexEd: Close. So do you want to?

I hesitated for a few moments and replied: Ok.

SexEd: I’ll come around to your place tonight xx

I swallowed back the fear that was drying my mouth out. I caught a smirk on Lise’s face when I looked up from messaging him back.

“Jace is it?”

“No,” I lied.

“You’re blushing, Rhys.”

“Okay, yes it is him.”

“What does he want?” she asked, curiously.

I sighed. “To meet up later.”

She wolf whistled. “I really hope he makes an effort when he takes your V card.”

I cringed, feeling uncomfortable talking about this in front of my cousin.

“Make sure he wears a condom,” Lise added, “and does plenty of foreplay, so you’re nice and relaxed.”

Tris grunted in disgust, looking like he was about to puke. “Yuck. Too much information. Rhys is like my sister, I don’t want to hear this sort of talk.”

“And if he treats you like shit,” Lise stated, “Tris and I will come down and sort him out. There’s plenty more room in Lake Superior for another jock.”

“Bad taste, Lise!” Tris snapped.

I’m convinced Lise had a screw loose. She seemed to be getting a kick out of what we did. I tried to detect guilt in her face or voice, however, all I found was elation, like she viewed the event as an exciting little adventure. I know she was hurt really bad by the Sweeneys, but did it turn her completely numb, where she failed to feel anything at all.

“Not really,” Lise argued, “not if Jace Luxon is one of the guys who tried to rape that girl.”

“I doubt that,” I sighed.

“But you don’t actually know,” she argued.

True. I didn’t actually know, because they were wearing black balaclavas. Two of the men removed the balaclavas, Adam Sweeney and Liam Greene, but the other two guys disappeared into the night. If Jace was one of them, he did have time to run from the crime scene, while Sweeney was in the process of threatening me, and walk along University Square like he was there the whole time.

It was a long shot and if I’m about to walk into the lion’s den, I might find out before my eyes are scratched out.

Rhys

I didn’t know what was appropriate attire for such an occasion.
