“I downloaded some pictures and studied them of erections and penile function.”

I covered my mouth with my hand to stifle my laugh. I couldn’t help it. She sounded so serious, so discerning, like she really wanted to understand it all. Whereas I just wanted to get my rocks off, plain and simple. “I’m counting to three. If you don’t open the door, I’m kicking it down. Jeez, Rhys don’t tempt me, I’m not in the mood to be teased.”

“Did you know each penis started as a clitoris,” she told me through the door.

“Really? Are you sure?”

“Before male babies experience the increase in hormones that allows a penis to develop, the cells start as a clitoris.”

“Weird.”

“Did you also know that men can break their penises?”

“I’m fairly certain my penis will snap very soon, if you don’t open that door.”

“I imagined a nicer location, not one with dubious sanitation and...”

I sighed. “This is not a fairytale like those in your head, Rhys. All those poems and romance novels you read, gives reality a bad name.”

She fell quiet.

“One…two…” she opened the door and I barged my way into the stall, pinning her against the wall and pushed my swollen crotch into her. “I’m aching, Rhys,” I breathed into her neck. I grabbed her leg and hitched it up, so I could push into her harder while kissing her neck. Little high-pitched sighs filled the stall as I made my way to her mouth. She was breathing hard and her green eyes were still drowning in fear.

“I don’t know how to do this?” she whispered.

“That’s why I’m giving you lessons.”

“I think it might hurt,” her voice breaking.

“Not if you’re relaxed.”

“I can’t get relaxed in here.”

Someone started banging on the bathroom door. Great, just what I needed. Still holding her leg up, I used my free hand to unzip her jeans and slip my hand inside. She was already sodden before I even got there and gasped when I started massaging her pussy over her panties. “Looks like you’re ready to take my cock.”

The banging at the door continued, which was only stressing Rhys out. I stepped away from her, swung the bathroom door open and told the two girls, desperate for a pee, to fuck off, then I slammed the door in their faces.

Rhys stepped out of the stall and I was about to pull her jeans down to fuck her, and faltered. My feet refused to move. I couldn’t do it. Her pale forehead furrowed in fear, her hands were trembling, her hair had come loose from her ponytail, and she hugged herself as if feeling the cold.

I growled in frustration and punched the bathroom door. “You’re right,” I winced, shaking my hand from the pain of punching the door.

Without looking back at her, I unlocked the door and left to rub myself down in my car.

Rhys

We made a pact to never speak of Friday night again.

The problem was we needed to speak to each other about it, especially when Sweeney’s car was found. I heard that a guy was walking his dog on the shore of Lake Superior and noticed a Great Blue Heron standing on water. It was a calm day, the water was smooth, and the dog-walker figured that either the heron had extraordinarily long legs or it was standing on something.

That moment could be the beginning of our demise, or my demise. The beginning of the end.

I was in class when I overheard a fellow student telling her friend in the row behind me. She said that scuba divers swum out to look at the vehicle, and discovered that the number plate was registered to Adam Sweeney. No body was found in the vehicle when they dragged it out of the water, and divers continued to search the lake floor near where the vehicle was discovered.

The rule of the Deadwood Four, as Lise fondly named us, was to never communicate via our phones in case police were to search them. She informed me that digital forensics were capable of uncovering deleted messages, so we must never leave a trail. Ever.

The term Deadwood was not a name of a place but a saying, ‘cutting out the dead wood,’ which was what I did, by murdering a violent abuser and then hiding his body. To Lise it was completely justified. To Tris and me, it was a really bad move and will likely smack us in the face.
