“I want to marry you, Chase Pennington!” Keely cried.

His face lit up, and he moved toward her in three long strides.

Shannon raised her camera in time to capture him meeting her in a kiss, lifting her off of the floor, and spinning her around.

The girls clapped and cheered as did the guys from their doorway. Shannon’s eyes locked with Micah’s as they both clapped.

Shannon wanted to choose love. She wanted to choose Micah. But if she told him the truth, would he choose her?

Chapter 19

The sweet sounds of a piano and violin duet playing “God Gave Me You” floated softly into the foyer as guests wandered into the church, stopping to sign the guest book before being seated.

Micah stared out the window, unable to stop thinking about Shannon. Especially after that unexpected, amazing, heart racing, blood pumping, never-want-it-to-end kiss. He could’ve stood there in the hallway kissing her all day. Forget about the wedding. Forget about Chase’s awful mother. Forget about crazy Jacqueline. Her lips on his, that was all he needed in life.

Autumn scurried across the parking lot ten minutes before the wedding. Her strawberry blonde hair was curled neatly, half pinned up atop her head. Her cheeks were rosy, lips pink to match the flowers on her dress.

“Hi.” Her face lit up when she saw him. “Sorry I’m so late.”

He hugged her and kissed her cheek. “You look beautiful.”

“Thank you.” She gave him a once over. “You’re not so bad yourself.”

He straightened the jacket of his tux and struck a pose, and she let out a little laugh.

The foyer had mostly cleared out, except for family or guests like her, arriving at the last minute. Her eyes scanned the room. “What a weird day, huh?”

“You can say that again. I’m just glad they’re going through with it.”

“So am I. They’re so great together.” She leaned closer and spoke in a whisper. “What his mom did was horrible.”

“I know. She left on a plane today.”

Autumn’s eyes widened. “Wow!”

“His dad stayed, at least.”

“Oh, really, he’s here?”

“Yeah. He loves Chase, and he doesn’t want Keely to feel alienated from the family because of this.”

“I hope it all works out.”

“I’m sure things won’t be pretty when he gets home.”

Autumn giggled. “I think not.”

Micah’s eyes caught on Shannon as she moved into position to photograph the grandparents being seated, and his heart rate kicked up a notch. All of his attention focused on her, and he hadn’t realized Autumn was talking until she touched his arm.

He startled. “Huh?”

“That’s my cue.”

“Sorry, what?”

She nodded toward Shannon and the white-haired couple entering through the sanctuary doors then pointed to the side door. “I’m gonna sneak in and find a seat.”

He touched her arm. “See you after.”
