Aiden nodded, his tight body language indicating he could feel Pasha’s icy demeanor through the phone. “Uh, yeah. Of your big, extended family, who has the biggest house and yard?”

“Well, Chase and Stacey, but they’re way the fuck out by Prospect Lake and it snows like crazy out there. Roads are narrow and there is like no parking,” Pasha said. “After that, it’d probably be us, then Krista and Brock, then Rex and Lydia. Joy and Grant have a bigger backyard than Rex and Brock, though. And better parking. Krista and Brock are on a cul-de-sac, and Rex and Lydia are on a private road with weird strata rules. So all things considered, I think we have the best set-up yard, house and parking. Why?”

“I thought that, together, we could set up tents, portable heaters, chairs, lights and do the ceremony outside. I doubt all the guests will be able to make it, anyway. Jordan said as much. So it’ll probably be a smaller turnout. Could your house handle hosting a wedding?” he asked. “I’m happy to help out in any way. Cook, find tents, and heaters. I already called Canadian Tire and the one closest has four portable outdoor heaters in stock.”

Oona’s eyes were wide as she watched Aiden, who was staring at the phone on her unmade bed, rattle off his ideas.

“We could,” Pasha said. “We have the patio, and the yard. Can move some furniture around inside so it’s more functional for a crowd. And we have an outdoor heater. So do Chase and Stacey and Krista and Brock.”

“And Mum has a heater, and a pop-up tent, so do we, and I think Brock, Chase and Rex each have one, too,” Heath said, his voice starting out in the background and growing closer. “And between all of us and our lawn chairs, I’m sure we can make it work.”

Oona started to nod. “Can we do this?”

“For Rayma, I’ll walk across fucking glass,” Pasha said, her voice warm again.

“Me, too,” Triss and Mieka both said.

“I’ll eat glass,” Heath said, humor in his tone.

“Always have to one-up us, don’t you?” Pasha said. Oona could practically hear her sister rolling her eyes.

“And so, what about booze?” Mieka asked.

“We picked up the wine the other day,” Aiden said. “Dropped it off at Joy and Grant’s in their garage.”

“And I’m sure at least one liquor store in town is open. We can just go buy what we need. It was going to be an open bar, anyway,” Triss said.

“I’m going to call the florist to see if they’re open and what they have from the bouquets and arrangements available,” Oona said. “And grocery stores usually have premade bouquets, too, if the florist is closed.”

“What about food?” Heath asked.

Pasha and a few of the others snorted. It was well-known that Heath was a bottomless pit and could eat more than three average people, then say he was hungry an hour later.

“Happy to help there,” Aiden said.

“I think we can all put together some dishes. Grocery stores aren’t going to be shut down—not all of them, anyway. We can figure it out. Might not be what they had planned, but we’ll make it work,” Oona said, smiling at Aiden who smiled back.

“Okay, so we all have our jobs?” Pasha asked. “Heath, you reach out to your brothers about chairs, heaters, and tents. Also, twinkly lights. We need more twinkly lights than what we have. We’re going to have the wedding here. Oona, you call the florist. Nate and Asher, I’m putting you on booze and snow shovel duty.”

“Aye aye, Captain,” said one of them, which was probably Nate, since Asher was broodier and quieter than his younger brother.

“And I’ll talk to Mum about food, a tent, and heaters, too,” Heath said. “And I bet you Grant would be willing to go online and get one of those quickie officiant licenses. He could marry Rayma and Aiden.”

“I think he’d love that,” Pasha said.

“I can start working on some appetizers,” Aiden offered. Oona’s heart fluttered. “And I’ll call Jace,” he added.

“Oh yeah, I guess someone should call the guests and let them know of the change,” Pasha said.

“Mieka and I can do that,” Triss said.

“Me, too,” Oona said.

“All right, let’s do this,” Pasha said. “Operation: SNOW JOB FOR JORDAYMA is a-go.”

“What the fuck kind of name is that?” Heath asked just before Pasha disconnected the call.

Oona snorted and faced Aiden. “Thank you.”
