“Triss said that high sex is the best sex of her life,” Mieka said, taking a bite of toast from their late dinner. She’d made them breakfast for dinner. Toast, bacon and eggs. Still no vegetables or fruit, but she just couldn’t bring herself to open up one of those cans of stew and call that dinner.
“High sex is the best sex I’ve ever had, too,” he said. “I mean, besides sex with you.” His grin was super cheesy, but it melted her heart nevertheless. “So I can only imagine that high sex with you will make my balls explode right off my body.”
“Well, that sounds terrifying.” She sipped her wine. “And not at all pleasant.”
“Triss packed a few lemonades for you if you’d rather that than smoke. We can take a wander down to the river, go for a swim.”
“Isn’t it freezing?”
“Probably. It’s glacier fed, and it’s only spring. But it reminds you that you’re alive. Just remember the size my cock can get when it’s warm and hard because I’m a bit of a turtler when I get cold.”
She snorted so hard that the wine went up from her mouth into her nose and started to burn. “Oh my God!” She reached for a piece of paper towel. “Don’t say stuff like that. At least not when I’m drinking.” Her eyes were now watering, and she was pretty sure that liquid she felt running down her nostrils was wine. She dabbed the paper towel to her nose, and sure enough, it came back red with wine. “A turtler?”
“Yeah, you know, like shrinkage.”
“I don’t think our relationship is there yet.”
He took a sip of his wine. “Sure it is. You sucked my balls and nearly suffocated me with your beaver, our relationship is there.”
“My beaver?”
“Beaver, box, pussy. Whatever you want to call it.” He snapped. “Oh right, it’s your stubborn cat! I almost forgot.”
She didn’t know if she should laugh or cringe. She was a liberal, thin-filtered woman, but this was a new side to Nate that she wasn’t sure she was on board with. Or at the very least, it was going to take a bit of getting used to. She couldn’t deny how his crass and filthy side turned her on, though. She’d be lying if he asked her if her panties were bone-dry and she said yes.
“Finish up your toast and let’s go for a walk. I brought headlamps so you don’t eat it on the trail and break all those pretty teeth.”
“I have a cast. I shouldn’t be swimming.”
“Just dip in your toes.” He reached out and grabbed her big toe inside her socks and gave it a pinch. “Come on, it’ll be fun.”
The big, boyish smile on his ruggedly handsome face had her agreeing against her better judgment and before she knew it, she was holding Nate’s hand, carefully making her way over rocks and roots, down the trail toward the gently babbling river below.
“It doesn’t sound like a rushing river, so that’s good,” she said, tightening her grasp on his hand when the trail turned steeper.
“No, it’s just a brook. But it’s pretty full right now from the snowmelt.”
Eventually, the path flattened out and they came to a small clearing with the river in front of them. The moon wasn’t quite full, and its light filtered through the trees—most of which were just sporting small new leaves for the spring. The light of the moon reflected off the water, lending the entire area a romantic and beautiful glow that just filled Mieka’s heart with all kinds of giddy joy.
“This is beautiful,” she said, releasing his hand and stepping closer to the river. “It’s like something out of a fairy tale.”
The flicker of his electric lighter was no comparison for the blinding light of their headlamps as he lit the joint pinched between his lips. She turned off her headlamp, and he did the same. Suddenly it was just the lighter flame and the moon which only added to the ambiance and romance of it all.
“Except the hero in most fairy tales doesn’t get super baked.”
He snorted. “Only in the best fairy tales.” He took a long pull of the joint and she watched as he exhaled the smoke out into the night air.
She could only really see it as it drifted past the moonlight that dappled through the trees.
“I brought your lemonade if you don’t want this,” he said, taking another pull off the joint, then keeping it between his lips as he reached into his back pocket and brought out the bottle of cannabis lemonade.
She smiled and accepted the bottle. “I think I’ll go with this. When I smoke it burns my throat and makes me cough.” She unscrewed the cap and took a tentative sip, then a bigger one. He’d grabbed a peach-flavored one for her and it absolutely hit the spot. She was a little achy after two days of being on her feet non-stop and helping Nate assemble furniture. Not to mention all the sex. That left her achy in the best kind of way. Actually, all her aches and pains were well-earned and made her buoyant with satisfaction. She was accomplishing a lot and having the best sex of her life.
“What’s got you smiling like that?” he asked, coming toward her and wrapping his arms around her waist. “Thinking about my tongue and where I had it earlier?”
She put the cap back on her lemonade before looping her arms around his waist, too. “Among other things.”
She waited for the kiss she knew was coming.
