He was dying here tonight. By our goddamn hands!
Reaching the elevator, he slapped the button to call it.
I smiled when it didn’t come right away.
My dad had clearly been on top of it, keeping it down at the bottom for precisely this reason, so Lynch couldn’t get away from us.
He spun and I caught sight of something in his hand, concealed for the most part.
And then a sadistic smile played on his lips a moment before he opened his hand.
A motherfucking grenade.
No.
“Oh my God,” Brianna breathed.
“Are you fucking crazy?” I yelled over to him.
His lips pulled into a sadistic grin. “You already know the answer to that.”
He pulled the pin.
“Go! Go! Go!” I yelled to Brianna, snatching her arm and dragging her with me to the closest stairwell entrance.
I slammed my hands into the emergency exit bar and the door gave way just as the grenade went off, the blast sending us careening down the steps.
The fiery heat and the smell of smoke was the last thing I was aware of before everything went black.

Madness.
Utter fucking madness.
The sick bastard had gotten worse over time.
I hadn’t thought that possible.
Yet, he’d just demonstrated proof of it.
“Hell” I choked, as I pushed up on my hands from my sprawled position on the stairwell landing.
“Hell? Your wish is my command, pretty princess.”
I jolted at the sound of that maniac’s voice and as I managed to stagger to my feet, I caught sight of him climbing through the wreckage of the stairwell door.
That paled in comparison to the sight of Levi on his stomach halfway down the stairs passed out. He was bloodied and covered in debris.
I remembered then, him throwing his body over mine to cover me from the blast.
“Levi!” I cried, scrambling toward him.
A gun cocked, stilling me.
Lynch stood there smirking. “Let him sleep. It will buy us some time alone together.” He licked his lips in an utterly disgusting way. “It’s been too long since I’ve had your pretty princess pussy, wouldn’t you agree?”
