With a sigh, she pushed to her feet, walking over to where Jaspurr was trying to sleep.

“I’m overthinking this, aren’t I?” she asked, scooping him up.

He let out a big huff.

“You’re right. It’s getting late. We should just go to bed. There will be plenty of time to overthink it in the morning.”

She carried him to her room, sitting him on the bed before climbing in herself. She drifted off with him purring loudly beside her.

ADAZE

Of course Diana remembered when Adaze’s date was, so Thursday morning, she came in with her coffee and a giant grin.

Adaze frowned at her. “What is it? What is that face?”

“What face? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

She went back to her work only to be interrupted after less than a minute.

“Only, tomorrow’s your date, right?”

“I said not to make it a thing.”

“Not making it a thing. Who’s making it a thing?”

“Then why are you bringing it up?”

“Did you figure out what you are planning on wearing yet?”

“I don’t know, I was thinking clothes,” she sighed.

“Not a bad start, but I was asking about the specifics. Do you need to go shopping or send me out to pick anything up?”

“Absolutely not. We are not making this any more of a thing than it already is.”

“Not trying to make it a thing. I just want to be supportive. I know how hard it’s been for you to put yourself out there.”

“Alright, if you can’t drop this I will send you home for the day,” she warned, doing her best to sound like she would carry through on the threat.

Diana laughed. “We both know you wouldn’t do that, but I can see this is a sensitive issue at the moment. I’ll drop it, but let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.”

“I don’t need any help, but,” she softened. “Thank you. I’ll let you know if I think of anything.”

“Can I just ask one question?”

“Fine,” Adaze sighed. “One question.”

“What’s her name?”

She smiled. “Leilani. She’s a firefighter.”

Diana’s eyebrow raised.

But, to her relief, Diana really did let it drop after that. For a few hours she was able to pretend tomorrow wasn’t coming.

But then Diana left for the day and all she was left to do was pace her penthouse and overthink everything.
