“Good, I want you to get used to it.”

“It’s almost a shame we have that hike later today. I can think of so many things I want to do with you right here.”

“So can I. Too bad we’ve got people who will be waiting for us.”

“So, what do you want to do until we need to go?”

“I can think of a few things.”

Leilani giggled as Adaze leaned in to bring their lips together uniting them in a heavy kiss. Needless to say, the pair didn’t make it out of bed for quite some time.

Finally, she pulled into the parking lot. Veronica was still there when she pulled in. The sight of her made her want to be sick, but she needed to do this.

For Leilani.

Taking a deep breath, she forced herself out of her car.

“She hasn’t come out of the forest yet. Her friends went in after her,” Veronica said. “I’ll leave you on your own from here.”

Adaze didn’t say a word as she left, leaving her alone with nothing to do but wait for Leilani to make her way out of the trees.

LEILANI

After a good cry, Leilani slowly made her way back to the parking lot, flanked on either side by Sierra and Rory. She found herself letting out a sigh as they walked. Now that she was calm, it was hard not to admire the way the sunlight streamed through the green leaves and sparkled off the gray stone. Her friends hovered closely around her, still whispering soft reassurances until they made it into the parking lot. Suddenly they both stopped, eyes locked on something in the distance.

Leilani followed their gaze but shook her head in disbelief at the tall figure with dark hair pacing at the edge of the parking lot. “What? No, that can’t be right. What’s she doing here?”

“Maybe it’s someone else,” Sierra said. “Either way, let’s just make it over to my car then I can give you a ride home.”

She hesitated. “But what if it is her?”

“If it is, do you want to talk to her?”

She chewed her lip but didn’t answer.

As they walked, she couldn’t stop staring at the familiar figure. As she got closer, she realized she was right.

Standing near the cars was Adaze. Her eyes were puffy and red rimmed. Leilani took a deep breath.

“You don’t need to talk to her if you don’t want to,” Sierra assured.

“No, I need to do this.”

“Alright, but we’re going with you.”

They walked over to where Adaze was standing. She stopped pacing and just looked at Leilani in disbelief as if she didn’t expect her to actually be willing to even walk over to her. The second their eyes met, she tried to shove down the urge to run over her, wrapping her arms around her.

Adaze licked her lips. “Y-you’re still here.”

“Yeah, I am, but you left. What are you doing back here? Did you forget your phone or something?” Leilani asked, chewing her lip and crossing her arms so she wouldn’t be tempted to reach out to her.

Adaze avoided her eyes. “I was hoping to talk to you, if you’re comfortable with that, of course.”

She frowned. “Why?”

She rubbed the back of her head. “I feel like I owe you an explanation and an apology if you want to hear it of course.”
